Rose Barney, nee Treta, of Wyckoff, formerly of Totowa and Elmwood Park, died March 12. She was 91. Before retiring, she was a cafeteria worker at Kennedy High School in Paterson for 21 years. She is survived by sister of Josephine of Whiting, and her nieces Angela Conte, Patricia DeGrace, Annette Frattiti, and Joan Puget, many greatnieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, and her siblings Antoinette Garofalo Menegus, Thomas, and Marty. Arrangements were made by Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, Inc., in Elmwood Park. Elizabeth Sheila Anderson Blauvelt of Orford, New Hampshire, formerly of Franklin Lakes and Dominican Republic, died March 13. She was 82. She had been a Girl Scout leader, taught piano and music theory, volunteered at the hospital and for Meals on Wheels, was a member of Rondo, and belonged to Orford/Fairlee Lions Club, where she served a term as King Lion. She is survived by her children Ardath “Jolie” Blauvelt of Hollis, New Hampshire, Gillian Capparelli of Newport, Tennessee, David A. Blauvelt of Fort Valley, Virginia, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Blauvelt, and her brothers Dennis and Tony. Arrangements were made by The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua, New Hampshire. Marion Kohler, nee Kibitz, of Wyckoff, formerly of Bronx, New York and Glen Rock, died March 11. She is survived by her husband Robert, her sons Donald and Frederick, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. Arrangements were made by Browning-Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. Joseph Thomas McDonough of Glen Rock died March 16. He was 68. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran. Before retiring in 2007, he was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 3 in New York City for 46 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, where he was a Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, and member of a prayer group for 30 years. He was also a member of the Activities Club of Glen Rock and Habitat for Humanity. He is survived by his wife Jean L. (Welden) McDonough, his children Elizabeth Frawley, Kerri Croland, Joseph K. McDonough, Thomas McDonough, and Brian McDonough, 10 grandchildren, and his sisters Eileen Ferry and Mary Rusch. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Colonial

Bernard Joseph “BJ” O’Connor of Mahwah, formerly of Eastchester, New York, Upper Saddle River and Brant Beach, died March 12. He was 85. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He received his BS degree in electrical engineering from M.I.T. in 1946 and his MS from Yale University. Before retiring in 1991, he was first vice president and general manager of the Bendix Guidance Systems Division at Bendix Aviation Corporation, where he worked for 43 years. He was a pioneer in aerospace engineering with many space programs, including the Apollo, space shuttle, and Hubble space programs. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Margaret Citrullo, Patricia McHugh, Jeanette Bracuti, and Kathleen Purcell, five grandchildren, and his siblings Thomas and Mary Whealan. He was a U.S. Army 11th Airborne veteran of WWII. He was a psychologist and was employed by the City of New York in the 1950s. He later became the director of placement at Children’s Village of Dobbs Ferry, New York. He is survived by his children Theresa Rasmussen, John Thomas, Mark Thomas, and Richard Thomas, 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Daisy Rachich Thomas, and his son Stephen Thomas. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Stacey Toth, nee Demetras, of Ridgewood died March 11. She was 61. She is survived by her children McKell and Brandon, three grandchildren, and her mother Norma Demetras. A Lenten Pancake Breakfast will be held in the cafeteria at Saint Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff on Sunday, March 27 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. In keeping with the parish’s outreach program, each child is asked to bring a bag of Easter candy for less fortunate families. Advance reservations are requested for the breakfast, which is open to all families. Tickets are $6 per person or $24 maximum per family. Children under three years old will be admitted free. At the door, tickets will cost $7.50. Reservations may be made at Saint Elizabeth’s Parish Center at 700 Wyckoff Avenue. Additional information is available from Maryann at (201) 847-1187.
