Midland Park March 23, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 11 The Children’s Therapy Center (CTC) is expanding its Upper School campus in Midland Park with the addition of three new classrooms to satisfy the growing need for its services. The expansion will allow the center to eliminate an existing waiting list at the Midland Park facility by increasing its capacity by 20 to 32 additional children ages 6 through 13 years of age. According to Audra Hoffman, the school’s director of development, the expansion is being made possible, in large part, by the recent gift of $120,000 from Ridgewood philanthropist David Bolger, president of The Bolger Foundation and The Marion & Silfred DePhillips Foundation. CTC opened its Upper School in 2009 in classroom space at the Church of the Nativity previously occupied by St. Thomas More School, which had closed. That expansion came about as a result of a plea from center parents to continue services for their children past eight years of age. Bolger heard that plea and helped the center reach its goal of expanding to age 13, Hoffman said. With this newest expansion of services, The Fair Lawn campus will serve children with special needs ages 18 months - 5 years of age and The Midland Park campus will serve children ages 6 - 13 years of age. “The growth and changes that I have been privileged to be a part of have been awe-inspiring,” said Upper School Principal Laura DelDuca. “We are taking our children to new levels in education and therapies – using the latest techniques and equipment to assist them in reaching their maximum potential. This newly-created school and now additional three classrooms will bring our services to even more children who could benefit. We are doing work from our hearts, and I think it shows,” she added. CTC provides educational and therapeutic services for children with severe developmental disabilities. The students in need of very specialized services as a result of major medical issues, genetic disorders, neurological Donation spurs Children’s Therapy Center expansion problems and chromosomal abnormalities. “Our Upper School at Midland Park children are benefiting from the same quality programs – in addition to our education and therapies - that they enjoyed at the Fair Lawn Campus: ballet, special adapted swim, therapeutic horseback riding, parent and sibling support programs, sports and movement, yoga and so much more. I think that these additional opportunities are what sets us apart and makes us who we are,” DelDuca said. CTC will thank Bolger for his longstanding support by honoring him at its upcoming gala, “Shine”, which will celebrate its anniversary of 60 years of service. The event will be held at The Venetian in Garfield on June at 6:30pm.
