District announces Child Find program The Franklin Lakes Public School District maintains preschool programs for children who are developmentally challenged and/or have a diagnosed disability. A preschool child may experience developmental delays in one or more of the following areas: physical, social, communication and/or emotional. Children who demonstrate measureable delays may benefit and require special education and related services. The preschool programs are designed to meet the unique needs of children by means of a multi-disciplinary team approach. Children who have been diagnosed prior to age three, or are suspected to have developmental delays before or after their third birthday, are determined to be eligible for special education and related services by the Franklin Lakes Child Study Team. Any resident of Franklin Lakes who has a preschool child who may require special educational services and supports are invited to contact the Franklin Lakes’ Department of Special Services at (201) 337-0336. Project “Child Find” serves special needs children from birth to 21 years of age.
