Softball association to meet The Midland Park Softball Association will meet at 7 p.m. on March 24. The session will be held at the DePhillips Center at 50 Dairy Street. All are welcome. Spaghetti Supper set The Midland Park United Methodist Church will hold a March 19 Spaghetti Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church at 269 Godwin Avenue. The menu will include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, and dessert. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $8 for adults, $3 for children; children under three years old will be admitted free. Umpires sought Midland Park Baseball Association is seeking umpires for the spring/summer recreation league. Umpires must be in eighth grade or older and are required to attend the umpire clinic to be held at the DePhillips Community Center. Multi-group meeting announced The Midland Park High School Boosters Club, Performing Arts Parents, and PTA organizations will hold a joint meeting on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. in the media center at the high school, 250 Prospect Street. That night, the PTA will sponsor its “Coffee with the Principal” at 8 p.m. Principal Pat Terraciano address the group. A question and answer period will follow. Summer camp registration to begin Midland Park Summer Camp mail in registration will begin March 26. Forms are available at http://www.mpnj. com/mp_rec.asp , at the DePhillips Community Center or at borough hall. The camp program, open to children entering grades one through eight, is filled with activities and theme weeks. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 27 through Aug.5. A once-a-week extended day option until 3 p.m. is available. The cost per week is $65 for the first child, $50 for the second child, and $40 for the third child. There is a $155 a week maximum per family. Space is limited; early registration is advised. Registration will be taken in the order in which they are received. Registrations should be mailed to Midland Park Recreation, DePhillips Community Center, 50 Dairy Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432 or brought to the recreation center weekdays from 9 to 4 beginning March 28. Registrations should not be postmarked earlier than March 26. Gospel choir to perform The Calvin College Gospel Choir will perform at the Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, on Sunday, March 20 at the 6 p.m. service. A reception hosted
by the New Jersey Chapter of the Calvin Alumni Association will follow. The choir is on its spring tour throughout the United States. The public is welcome. Graduation Ball Committee seeks donations The parents of the Midland Park High School Class of 2012 are in the process of planning the annual Graduation Ball. Plans are underway for the Graduation Ball Basket Auction to be held on June 18. Local businesses and individuals are asked support the
program by donating items, services, gift certificates, or funds. All donations are acknowledged on the event’s program and on the prize baskets. The Graduation Ball is a safe and substance free event for seniors as they celebrate their graduation. The ball is held on graduation night. Chamber offers scholarships The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce is will award four scholarships to high school seniors who are planning to further their education. Three of these scholarships ($500 each) will be offered to students who are Wyckoff residents. The fourth scholarship ($1,000) will be awarded to a child of a Wyckoff Chamber member, or a child of an employee of a Wyckoff Chamber member, regardless of their town of residence. There is no eligibility restriction based upon a student’s chosen high school. Applications are now available at local high school guidance offices or may be downloaded from www.wyckoffchamber.com. Ladies Night Out set The Wyckoff Reformed Church Nursery School will hold its seventh annual Ladies’ Night Out and Prize Basket Fundraiser on Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m. in the church’s Heneveld Hall, 580 Wyckoff Avenue. The event will feature many prizes and vendors. The admission is $5 and light refreshments will be served. Commission seeks student representative The Wyckoff Environmental Commission is seeking a Wyckoff high school junior to be a student member of the board. The volunteer position requires attendance at the commission’s monthly meetings held on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Wyckoff Town Hall, 340 Franklin Avenue. Woman’s Club offers scholarships The Woman’s Club of Wyckoff will award three $2,000 scholarships to Wyckoff residents who are graduating high school seniors planning to attend college in the fall. Applications may be obtained in local high school guidance offices or by contacting Mrs. Frank Nigro, Scholarship Chairperson, 602 Barrister Court, Wyckoff. The deadline for applications is March 31. Storytime registration begins In-person registration for the Wyckoff Public Library’s spring storytimes will begin Wednesday, March 23 at the temporary site, 637 Wyckoff Avenue. Spring storytimes will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 555 Russell Avenue. Rhyme Time for children ages 12-30 months and caregivers will be held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. on April 4, 11, 18, and 25, and May 2 and 9. Toddler Tales for children ages 30 months to three years old and their caregivers will be held on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on April 8, 15, and 29, and May 6 and 13. The group will not meet on Good Friday, April 22. Storytime Fun for 4’s and 5’s will attend independently and be held on Thursdays at either 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. on April 7, 14, and 21, and May 5 and 12. Call the library at (201) 891-4866. Friends plan Pancake Breakfast The Friends of Wyckoff will host an Old Fashioned Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 19 at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon. The menu will include homemade pancakes in a variety of flavors, sausage, orange juice, tea, and coffee donated by Dunkin’ Donuts on Cedar Hill Avenue. Tickets are $10 each; $8 for seniors, and $30 per family. Children under age five eat free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at www.FriendsOfWyckoff.org. All advance sale tickets may be picked up at the door the morning of the breakfast. Partial proceeds from this event will benefit environmental programs in the Wyckoff schools. Community invited to celebrate Purim Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff invites the community to a special Purim celebration on March 19. The evening will begin with a family Purim Pasta Dinner at 5:30 p.m. This will be followed by the Megillah reading at 6:15 p.m. including Purim songs with the youth choir, a clown/magician, and a costume parade. Family festivities will continue at 7:15 p.m. with a Purim Ball featuring live music with The Templetones and dessert. Dinner is free for members who make reservations. The cost for non-members is $18 per adult and $7 for children ages five through 12. Reservations are due by March 17 and may be made by calling (201) 891-4466.
