James E. Case of Mahwah, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died Feb. 27. He was 64. He attended the Pennsylvania Military College. He and was the property manager for the Urban Farms Shopping Center in Franklin Lakes for over 40 years. He is survived by his siblings Marianne Goepfert of Bridgewater, Dolores Baills of Oakland, and Kathy Albohm of Allendale, and 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Jeannette (nee Hallahan) Case and his brother Walter Case. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home in Franklin Lakes. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083. Kenneth F. Jackson of Wyckoff died March 7. He was 58. Arrangements were made by Kugler Community Home. Gladys Khlopin of Midland Park, formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii and Staten Island, New York, died March 5. She was 92. She was a graduate of Curtis High School and the Baker Business School. She was employed by a number of businesses before working at Khlopin-Kelly Insurance where she held various positions for over 30 years. She was a member of the Eltingville Lutheran Church on Staten Island. She was an artist. She is survived by her children Robert of Steubenville, Ohio, Diane of Allendale, and Roger of Honolulu, Hawaii, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander. Memorial donations may be made to Valley Hospice, Valley Hospital Foundation, Ridgewood, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a future date in Saddle River. Elizabeth Lowerre, nee Elliott, of Wyckoff, formerly of Bronx, New York, died March 5. She was 99. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Fitzmaurice of Wyckoff, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Rutherford “Rudy” Lowerre. Loretta Matthews of Ridgewood, formerly of Waldwick, and Ashlar Village in Connecticut, died Feb. 21. She was 90. She was a graduate of Saint Catherine’s Nursing School in Brooklyn. She was a U.S. Navy nurse during WWII. She had been a nurse for the Oradell public schools. She was a parishioner at Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood. A memorial service will be held at Mount Carmel Church, 56 Passaic Street in Ridgewood on March 19 at 9:30 a.m. Jack E. Ranck of Ramsey died March 7. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He modeled for various magazines in NYC, attended Manhattan School of Aviation in New York City, and graduated from New York University. He had been an aeronautical engineer at Vought-Sikorsky-Aircraft in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and for American Airlines in Chicago. He was employed with ATF as a sales representative, and employed with Royal Zenith in Long Island as a sales manager. He was an eastern regional sales manager for Solna Corp. in Kenilworth, where he received numerous awards for outstanding sales. Before retiring in 2004, he owned JR Graphics in Ramsey. He is survived by his wife Celeste G. Ranck (nee Kaczmarek). Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. She had been a telephone operator during WWII. She is survived by her children Richard Thomas and Janet Cohen, and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Franklin R. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Johanna Thompson, nee DeLeeuw, of Wyckoff, formerly of Lodi and Maywood, died March 2. She was 98. She graduated from Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing in 1931 as a registered nurse. Before retiring, she was the supervisor of nursing at Hackensack University Medical Center. She is survived by her children Thomas Thompson of Old Tappan, Peter Thompson of Ramsey, and John Thompson of Newport, Vermont, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and her sister Betty Bruining. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Thompson, and her granddaughter Laurie. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Paramus. Vivienne Vander Snow, nee Diekman, of North Haledon, formerly of Midland Park, died March 3. She was 100. She was a member of the Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park. She is survived by her daughter Susan Cook of Westfield, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Vander Snow and her son David Vander Snow. Porro has lived in Wyckoff for six years and he has two sons, one of whom attends Indian Hills High School and is enrolled in the International Business University Program, while the other attends the Eisenhower Middle School. He is a 1980 graduate of Don Bosco Prep and received a bachelor’s degree with a business/finance concentration from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland, and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Baltimore Law School. He is a 1992 graduate of the American Inns of Court trial lawyer association. He was a lecturer for the New Jersey Bar Association on municipal tax appeals in 2010 and on adverse possession/easement disputes in 2009. He is also a guest lecturer at Bergen Community College. A partner at the law firm of Wells, Jaworski, & Liebman, LLP, he has been a New Jersey practicing attorney for over 20 years in good standing. His primary legal practice is in the area of civil litigation before the New Jersey State and Federal Courts and before the New Jersey Tax Court. Porro has been active in the Wyckoff community and is currently volunteering his time to coach recreation baseball and soccer. In the past, he was a volunteer coach for Wyckoff recreation basketball and he has participated in the Wyckoff town cleanup and the YMCA Buddy Walk. A parishioner at Saint Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, he is a former Boy Scout of America and has been recognized by the New Jersey Monthly Magazine as a “Super Lawyer” in 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2010. Skenderi received a master’s degree in public administration in 2004 from Rutgers University. He received a certificate of advanced professional training in public administration from Rutgers University in 2003, a master’s degree in political science from Rutgers University in 2002, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Montclair State University in 1999.
