Cell phone & small electronics collection underway Franklin Lakes Public Library will sponsor a collection of used cell phones and cell phone accessories during the month of March. Items may be dropped off in the collection boxes in the lobby of the library through March 31. All wireless phones, batteries, and accessories in any condition from any service provider will be collected and distributed to the HopeLine® project from Verizon and the National Network to End Domestic Violence. This service project is being planned and overseen by the library’s Advisory Council for the Community by Teens. For more information about ACCT and

Brisco to discuss women’s unique issues In honor of Women’s History Month, Margaret Brisco, author of “Childbirth: A Unique Experience,” “Women in Transition,” and “Metamorphoses,” will share her insights about women and their unique issues at the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. Dr. Brisco practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 35 years and was a pioneer in the field of medicine. Join her as she speaks of her experiences, gives a reading, and signs her books. All are welcome to attend this special event. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. Job search assistance offered The Franklin Lakes Public Library will present a job search workshop on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. Debbie De Vries, a career coach from CTCR Resumes, will address job search tactics and answer questions. She will offer tips on navigating through the maze of details involved in finding the best career and job. All are welcome to this free event. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. Call (201) 891-2224 for details. Republicans hold meeting The Franklin Lakes Republican Club will meet Monday, March 7 at 7:45 p.m. at the Bender Court Ambulance Corps Building. The selection of candidates for borough council positions will be discussed. The Franklin Lakes Republican Club
is a non-profit organization established to represent the Republican Party in town. The group is devoted to the cause of community improvement and good government through the medium of an organized Republican Party and the support of candidates for public office who will best represent the interests of the residents and taxpayers of Franklin Lakes. Spring sports registration underway Registration for spring sports will be open through March 4 at the recreation office, 1 Vichiconti Way, Franklin Lakes, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at www.gameplan411.com. Registration is available for baseball and softball for children in kindergarten through grade eight, and for spring roller hockey for children in kindergarten and first grade. Learn Alzheimer’s warning signs On Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m., the Franklin Lakes Public Library will offer an interactive workshop about the 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Amy Matthews of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater New Jersey will separate myth from reality and address commonly held fears about Alzheimer’s disease. Learn how to recognize these signs and what steps may be taken for treatment. Early detection, diagnosis, and intervention are vital because they provide the best opportunities for treatment, support, and planning for the future. All are welcome to attend this free program.
