Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • June 15, 2011 Dads do a lot throughout the year, and Father’s Day is when they get their recognition for all the helping hands they’ve offered in the last year. To ensure that Dad’s gift is a little more meaningful, consider taking a day trip with Dad to a local attraction of note. The following ideas are just a few of the many day trips to take this Father’s Day. Take Dad out to the ball game. If your dad is a fan of America’s pastime, take him out to the ball game for a day of fun watching his favorite team. If there isn’t a local Day trips to enjoy with Dad on Father’s Day major league team in the area, look for a minor league game instead. Minor league games are more intimate affairs, and Dad is sure to appreciate and cherish a day at the ballpark. Just don’t let Dad spend a dime all day! Hit the links. For the father who’s an avid golfer, nothing could be finer than a round of golf at his favorite course. Spend the afternoon with Dad and then buy him a meal at the 19th hole. Catch some fish. For the father who loves to fish, a day at his favorite fishing hole could be a day of relaxation he’s sure to covet. Be sure to spend the day with Dad chatting about what has been going on in his life and hopefully catch some fish along the way. Because there are no tickets to buy or greens fees to pay, give Dad that new fishing pole he wants. Go on tour. For the Dad who loves wine, a wine tour could make for a great weekend getaway. Book some rooms at a nearby hotel and tour a few local vineyards, ending the night with a delicious dinner. Rock out! For the father who still loves to crank up his stereo, consider some concert tickets to see one of his favorite bands. Because Father’s Day falls during the warm weather season, consider an outdoor concert venue where everyone can sit under the stars and toast Dad as the music plays. Run for the hills. If your dad is an avid outdoorsman, a camping trip or a hike through a nearby park is an ideal way to spend some quality time together away from the pressures of everyday life. Dad may appreciate getting away from it all, and the fresh mountain air can’t be matched when it comes to some rest and relaxation. Rina Goldhagen’s The Art of Excellence Studio will present its “Heart and Soul” Student Art Exhibit on Father’s Day, June 19, at the Jacobsen Landscape Design and Construction Gallery at 11 Barnstable Court in Saddle River. The exhibit will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Jacobsen Landscape’s outdoor design gallery, nestled on a shaded island between two rivers, will be the backdrop for the event. The exhibit is called “Heart and Soul” because each student is demonstrating personal commitment to learning and mastering the tools, techniques, and theories that were introduced to them. The exhibit will feature pastel, charcoal, and watercolor pieces by artists who range in age from six years old to adult. This year, awards will be given for outstanding artwork in each of the beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels. Art instructor Rina Goldhagen holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in watercolors, and is an exhibiting, accomplished, and avant-garde watercolorist with more than 20 years of ‘Heart and Soul’ art exhibit set Rina Goldhagen experience.
