Demographic study
(continued from page 6) of four students. The student enrollment history in the regional high school district indicated there were 2,269 students in the district in 2005-06, including 12 special education students. That number of students grew to 2,344 in 2010-11, including 11 special education students. That number was projected to drop next year to 2,262 students, including 11 special education students, and then grow to 2,298, including 11 special education students, in 2015-16. When a projected net residential development impact of a projected 28 students is added, the total enrollment in 2015-16 is projected to be 1,191 students at Indian Hills and 1,135 students at Ramapo, for a total of 2,326 students – down 18 students from October 2010. School Board President Ira Belsky, who was a trustee at the time the study was provided to the board, suggested there might be some value to projecting the enrollment figures out 10 years instead of five. While Richardson said those figures would be less reliable, he agreed to provide a separate table in his report that would extend the projections for another five years.
