Support group for caregivers to meet The Caregiver Support Group of the Christian Health Care Adult Day Services will meet on Tuesday, June 7 from noon to 1 p.m. at the center, 301 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff. The meeting place will now be held in the Building 1 all-purpose room. Facilitated by Kerri Sherer, LSW, the group strives to provide support to people caring for a loved one suffering from dementia and other medical problems related to aging. Swenson is a product marketing manager with LearningExpress, LCC for Job & Career Accelerator ™. Job & Career Accelerator, an online job and career resource, is free through the library’s website, http://wyckofflibrary.org. The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run approximately two hours. Job & Career Accelerator is a 2011 CODiE Awards-
winning database for job hunters. It is part of the online resources platform available through LearningExpress, purchased last year for New Jersey libraries by the New Jersey State Library. With Job & Career Accelerator, job seekers can choose to explore occupations, search for jobs and internships, create resumes, and practice interviewing and networking. To begin, a user should enter his or her Wyckoff library card number as the user name. The library has a limited number of Internet computers while in its temporary space. Program participants should bring laptops to use the library’s wi-fi network. To sign up for the program call (201) 891-4866 or stop by the reference desk at 637 Wyckoff Avenue. Blood drives planned There will be two Wyckoff Community Blood Drives in June. The first drive, sponsored by Walgreen’s 519 Cedar Hill Avenue location, will be held on June 20 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. On June 21, the Knights of Columbus from Saint Elizabeth’s Church will host a drive at the church located at 700 Wyckoff Avenue from 4 to 7:30 p.m. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. PSA testing will be done for all men 40 years and older. Golf Classic coming up Christian Health Care Center’s 22nd Annual Golf Classic will be held Monday, June 13 at High Mountain Golf Club in Franklin Lakes. The shotgun starts will be at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Registration is $250, and includes greens
fees, continental breakfast, golf cart, putting contest, tenth tee barbecue, golf balls and tees, hole-in-one prizes, an awards dinner, golf gift, and door prizes. The John L. and Grace P. Soloveri Foundation is sponsoring a $1 Million Dollar Hole Contest as part of this outing. The outing is sponsored by the Christian Health Care Center Foundation. Christian Health Care Center has served the community since 1911, providing a broad scope of mental-health and elder-care programs. Proceeds will benefit The David F. Swim team tryouts set The Wyckoff Y’s Summer Stingrays Swim Team will hold tryouts for its summer league on Saturday, June 18 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Y’s Spring Lake, 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. All swimmers, ages six through 17, are invited. Coached by Francesco Peta, Scott Reiners, and Suzanne Stranzle, the Stingrays practice Monday through Friday from June 27 through July 29. Swim meets are held on Monday and Thursday nights. All swimmers age eight and under must complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke without stopping, and swimmers age nine and up must complete 50 yards of freestyle, 25 backstroke, and 25 breaststroke.
