June 1, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 17 Wyckoff Wanderings Library open additional hours The Wyckoff Library, now located at its temporary site at 637 Wyckoff Avenue, is adding evening hours to its weekly schedule. Beginning June 9, hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As of June 18, the library will be closed on Saturdays for the summer. Saturday hours will resume after Labor Day. The Wyckoff Library facility at 200 Woodland Avenue is undergoing construction, which is expected to last about one year. The project began in March and will include an enlarged children’s department and a renovation of the public spaces in the library. New construction photos are being posted monthly so residents can follow the building project’s progress. Wyckoff Day 2011 set Plans are in high gear for the 2011 Wyckoff Day, which will take place Saturday, June 11 at the Wyckoff Family YMCA at 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Festivities will begin at noon and feature a kiddie carnival, rides, games, activities, food, and live music and entertainment. Vendors, civic groups, and local non-profits are scheduled to participate, offering games, activities, prizes, clothing, pottery, jewelry, accessories, skin care, photography, and much more. Entertainment on the outdoor stage is scheduled throughout the day and will include Dave and Dan Graessle, the Ramapo High School Band, “No Time Lost,” the Y Chorus, “Craig’s List,” the YArts Theater Company, “The Jersey Royale,” Studio 691 Dance Company, Richie Arthur, “Jet Pack Taxi,” and Evan Toth. The headliner Jimmy Buffett tribute band, “Jimmy and the Parrots,” will take the stage for the evening concert at 7 p.m. Attendees are invited to stay all day and enjoy dinner before or during the show. In the event of rain, the evening concert will be held indoors, and limited seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alcohol not permitted. Parking will be prohibited on local streets as posted; however, a free parking and shuttle service will be available from Advent Lutheran Church, Washington School, Wyckoff Reformed Church, ShopRite/Greenwood Avenue lot, and Cornerstone Christian Church. Residents may also choose to ride bikes to the event. Bike racks will be available. The Wyckoff Y is a smoke-free facility and pets will not be admitted. This event is made possible through the generous donations of: Inserra ShopRite Supermarkets, Nicholas Markets/ North Haledon Foodtown, Phelps Construction Group, and 3 Chicas Mexican Kitchen. Seniors plan trips The Wyckoff Seniors will host a trip to the Hunterdon Playhouse for a luncheon and the musical revue, “Unforgettable,” on July 14. Other upcoming events for the seniors are the excursion to Doolan’s in Spring Lake for lunch and a show on June 14; and a four-night trip to the Indian Head Resort in New Hampshire planned for Sept. 12 through 16. The Wyckoff Seniors group meets every Tuesday at 11:15 at the Larkin House at 380 Godwin Avenue. Prize donations sought Heritage Manor Nursing Home at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is in need of bingo prizes for resident activity sessions. Items requested include, small picture frames, note cards and stationery, crossword puzzle and word-find books, socks, scarves, ties, costume jewelry (necklaces, clip-on earrings, pins) and other knickknacks. Items are also needed for a reminiscing activity for residents. Items requested include anything antique or oldfashioned, such as clothes pins, glove stretchers, and vintage kitchenware. The event will include breakfast, morning and afternoon rounds of golf, lunch, prizes, contests, an auction, cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres. The cost is $250 per golfer. Golf Classic coming up Christian Health Care Center’s 22nd Annual Golf Classic will be held Monday, June 13, at High Mountain Golf Club in Franklin Lakes. The shotgun starts will be at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Registration is $250, and includes greens fees, continental breakfast, golf cart, putting contest, tenth tee barbecue, golf balls and tees, hole-in-one prizes, an awards dinner, golf gift, and door prizes. The John L. and Grace P. Soloveri Foundation is sponsoring a $1 Million Dollar Hole Contest as part of this outing. The outing is sponsored by the Christian Health Care Center Foundation. Christian Health Care Center has served the community since 1911, providing a broad scope of mental-health and elder-care programs. Proceeds will benefit The David F. RBARI hosts fundraiser The Blue Moon Mexican Café in Boulder Run Shopping Center in Wyckoff will sponsor a Community Night fundraiser to benefit The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. on June 7. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch, dinner, take out, delivery, or gift card purchases.
