July 27, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 3 Wyckoff The Wyckoff Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspectors have arrested a 41year-old Newark woman who works at the Wyckoff Post Office and charged her with fraudulent use of a credit card and with credit card theft. Wyckoff police said the credit card company notified the cardholder, who is a township resident, about a failed transaction for a sizable amount of gift cards, and the resident contacted the police. Postal clerk arrested for credit card fraud An investigation by Wyckoff Detective Sergeant Joseph Soto determined that the township woman had last used her credit card at the Wyckoff Post Office. She inadvertently left the card behind, and the postal clerk who waited on her reportedly pocketed the card. The clerk, while on her break, reportedly attempted to use the credit card to purchase gift cards at a Wyckoff business. The transaction was declined because the postal clerk did not know the cardholder’s zip code. The postal clerk has been released on her own recognizance, and the complaints have been referred to Bergen County Superior Court. In an unrelated incident, the manager of Wyckoff Getty at 322 Franklin Avenue reported the theft of $250 from a cash drawer in the service station. The theft was discovered when the station opened and there were no signs of apparent forced entry into the building during the night. The investigation has been turned over to the detective bureau. On July 16, Wyckoff Police responded to a Linden Street home to investigate a report of a domestic violence. An investigation by Officers Thomas Tully and Brenda Groslinger determined that a 19-year-old Wyckoff man had assaulted his 18-yearold girlfriend. He was arrested and charged with assault and with false imprisonment Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff has a Summer Junior Volunteer Program where young people ages 13 to 17 help with various activities for nursing-home residents and children at the on-site Child Day Care Center. Working together for forcibly restraining her from leaving the home. He was arrested and committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $2,000 bail. On July 18 at 7:52 a.m., Wyckoff Police were notified by Fair Lawn Police that a hit and run motor vehicle crash had happened in their town and the driver fled the scene headed north on Route 208. Officer Kevin Pinches observed the vehicle on Route 208. Following a traffic stop, Pinches arrested a 27-year-old Franklin Lakes man and charged him with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, careless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The driver also faces charges in Fair Lawn. He was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in municipal court on Aug. 4.
