Wyckoff January 19, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 7 Activities Unlimited turns 25 A Wyckoff Community Blood Drive, sponsored by the Wyckoff YMCA in cooperation with Community Blood Services, will help ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met. The drive will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Y, 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. To schedule an appointment, call Community Blood Services at (201) 251-3703. Participants will have the opportunity to win a YMCA gift certificate. All types of blood are needed especially types Oand O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Blood Drive set ����� The AU Guys at a recent performance. �������� Activities Unlimited, a Wyckoff-based senior men’s club, is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. Founded by a few active individuals in April 1987, this non-political, non-sectarian, and non-profit organization now has over 360 members. The group is sponsored by the Wyckoff Reformed Church, where most of its meetings are held. Activities Unlimited welcomes new members who are recently-retired, semi-retired, contemplating retirement, or long-retired. Wyckoff residency is not required. The club’s officers for 2011 include President Marty McGonigle of Mahwah, First Vice President Joe Kelly of Franklin Lakes, Second Vice President Frank Nusspickel of Wyckoff, Secretary Ed Schlachman of Hawthorne, Treasurer Harold DeNiear of Allendale, and Assistant Treasurer Wally Lubcich of Mahwah. Activities Unlimited sponsors 23 activities, including Book Club, bridge, duplicate bridge, Camera Club, Chess Club, Model Railroad Club, Science Club, golf, and tennis. Members also participate in gardening, hiking, investing, and skiing. The group even has its own band, the AU Guys. While the group was organized for men, wives and significant others participate in AU’s frequent socials, including a Valentine’s Day celebration, Seniors Prom, the May luncheon, the Christmas Dinner Dance, and various trips. The group’s trips and tours have included stays in New York City, Las Vegas, and Europe. Membership in AU is $45 per year.
