McMahon The Franklin Lakes Council, planning board, and zoning board of adjustment have reorganized for the New Year. After Mayor Frank Bivona, Councilwoman Nathalie Lota, and newly-elected Councilman Frank Pedone were sworn in by Bergen County Executive Kathe Donovan, the borough council unanimously chose Councilwoman Paulette Ramsey as its president. Bivona also appointed the chairpersons of the council’s standing committees. Ramsey will chair the Public Safety Committee assisted by Councilman William Smith; Pedone will chair the Recreation and Parks Committee assisted by Lota; Councilman Michael Friscia will chair the Environmental and Community Committee and be assisted by the new member of the council appointed to replace Bivona; Lota will chair the Public Works Committee assisted by Friscia; the new council member will chair the Planning and Development Committee assisted by Ramsey; and Smith will chair the Finance and Administration Committee assisted by Pedone. Bivona administered the oath of office to Franklin Lakes Fire Chief Denny Knubel, Assistant Fire Chief Lawrence Kohan, Captain Ryan Dodd, Captain Jeremy Donch, Lieutenant Ronald Meyers Jr., Lieutenant Tom Fahy Jr., and Franklin Lakes Fire Department, Inc. President James Webb. Bivona also administered the oath of office to Franklin Lakes Ambulance Corps Captain Marc McKeon, First Lieutenant Dana Isza, Second Lieutenant Pat Meyers, Third Lieutenant Laurie Burnette, and Ambulance Corps President Kelley Larson. Among the professional appointments announced by Bivona are the reappointments of Goodman and Lustgarten as the borough attorney, Boswell McClave as the borough engineer, Lerch, Vinci & Higgins as the borough auditor, and Stickel, Koenig & Sullivan as the borough’s Council on Affordable Housing counsel. Bivona also appointed Marilyn Fuhr and Pearl Spector to three-year terms on the board of health and Omar ElRafei, Carole Holden, Thomas Lambrix, and Joseph Palm- ieri to the Franklin Lakes Environmental Commission for three-year terms. He also appointed himself to a one-year term on the planning board, Joseph Pullaro to a four-year term on that board, Joseph Medici to a one-year term, and Kim Vierheilig to a two-year term as an alternate member. Bivona also appointed himself, the new council liaison (Bivona’s as-yet unnamed replacement on the council), and Joseph Leone to five-year terms on the library board; and Richard Badenhausen, Joanne Gerber, and Roy Messaros to four-year terms on the zoning board of adjustment. Paul Frankel was named to a two-year term on that board as an alternate member.
