There will also be a drop-in Valentine’s Day Stories and Craft program for children ages three and up in the Monroe Room on Friday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m. For children through 30 months of age, a drop-in Valentine’s Day Rhyme-Time program is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Monroe Room. Book discussion groups to meet Children in third grade are invited to discuss Deborah Howe’s “Bunnicula” on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 3:30 p.m. at the Wyckoff Public Library. Temple offers classes, book discussion Men and women who are interested in participating in Temple Beth Rishon’s upcoming adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah class are invited to an orientation session on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. The class meets regularly for 15 to 18 months. Cantor Ilan Mamber directs the adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program and teaches Judaic studies and familiarization with the religious service. Students attend Rabbi Kenneth A. Emert’s adult education classes, and tutor Judy Ackerman teaches a special beginning Hebrew reading class and helps students prepare for their special service. At the conclusion of their studies, all of the students participate in a group Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony. Cantor Ilan Mamber will discuss Issac Beshevis Singer’s “Satan in Goray” on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. with the Reader’s Circle Book Club at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff. Historian to discuss Theodore Roosevelt Historian Charles McSorley will present “The Life and Times of Theodore Roosevelt” at the Jan. 19 meeting of the Woman’s Club of Wyckoff. McSorley will cover the turbulent and exciting life of America’s 26th president. The program is funded by The Horizons Speakers Bureau of The New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of The National Endowment for the Humanities. Hockey equipment collection continues Wyckoff resident Brandon Nicodemo, a senior at Ramapo High School, is collecting used ice hockey equipment for Hockey in Newark through his website, Second Time Around the Rink. Hockey in Newark, a program that supports financially disadvantaged youth in New Jersey, is a non-profit organization that depends on community support and donations to keep its program running successfully. All donated equipment will be delivered to the organization’s Newark facility where middle school and high school students learn to skate and play hockey. Equipment pickup can be arranged. ‘Palette to Palate’ tickets available Wyckoff YMCA and Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce will present the second annual “Palette to Palate” event on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Wyckoff Family YMCA, 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. Attendees may spend the evening tasting specialties from local restaurants, caterers, and markets of Wyckoff. Purchase a glass of wine and order bottles to take home. The event will feature an art show and prize baskets that will include art, jewelry, pottery, and sculpture created by talented local artists. Mary’s Basement will entertain all evening. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 day of event. Proceeds will benefit the Wyckoff Family YMCA’s Endowment Fund and the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce College Scholarship Fund. Learn about Social Security, getting organized The Friends of the Wyckoff Public Library will offer two programs for adults in the New Year. Social Security representative Dennis Burszan will present a program on Social Security benefits on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. On Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. Beatrix Goudy, of Let Us Organize You, LLC, will offer tips on organizing a home or office.
