McMahon Mayor Frank Bivona presided over the annual reorganization meeting of the Franklin Lakes Borough Council on Jan. 2 for the first time. He thanked Bergen County Executive Kathe Donovan for conducting the swearing in ceremony for him and Councilwoman Nathalie Lota, who is beginning her second term, and Councilman Frank Pedone, who is beginning his first term. Bivona recognized the attendance of Bergen County Republican Organization Chairman Robert Yudin, former Mayor G. Thomas Donch, past members of the governing body, borough religious leaders and professionals, employees, friends, and family members who filled the council chambers. “It is a great honor to serve as your mayor and I begin this role with great enthusiasm,” he said. “I want to thank all of those who supported me in my recent campaigns for council and then mayor. Through this process I have been fortunate to have the support of so many talented people without whom none of this would have been possible.” Bivona congratulated Lota and Pedone and recognized former mayor Maura DeNicola and former council member Steve Marcus. “I want to express my appreciation for their dedication and commitment to our borough,” Bivona said. “The governing body gives generously while sacrificing time away from their careers and family and so to all past and present members of the governing body, thank you. “Our fire, ambulance, and office of emergency management volunteers are probably our most giving, and their service is most vital,” he said. “They are staffed with professionals to whom we entrust our lives.
