Jo Ann Belcher of Wyckoff died Feb. 14. She was 82. She attended Linfield College and graduated from Stetson University in Florida. Before retiring in 1993, she worked as the music secretary and later as the financial secretary for West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. She had played the piano for the Wyckoff Chorus and other community groups. She is survived by her children Alice Brees of Highland Lakes, Sally Belcher of North Potomac, Maryland, Aricia Lee Belcher of Ventura, California, and Tom Belcher of Mahwah, and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edward. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. JoAnn Claire Feasenmeyer of Midland Park, formerly of Haledon and North Haledon, died Feb. 12. She was 66. Her career as a phlebotomist spanned 47 years. She worked at Velardi Laboratories in Fair Lawn, Bergen West Pediatrics in Wyckoff, and Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She is survived by her husband Walter, her children Walter John of Midland Park and Suzanne DeLaurentis of Wanaque, and her siblings Anita DeKorte, Beatrice Spalt, and Andy Van Beveren all of North Haledon, and David Van Beveren of Follensbee, West Virginia. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Henrietta Holland of Midland Park, formerly of Westwood, died Feb. 16. She was 81. Before retiring, she was a manager for the Walt Disney Educational Media Company in Cranford for 26 years. She is survived by her children Doreen Holland, William P. Holland Jr., Michael Holland, and David Holland, all of Midland Park, Denise Holland of North Haledon, and Robert Holland of Oakland, four grandchildren, a great-grandson, and her sister Gladys Frumolt of Hackettstown. She was predeceased by her husband Bill. Arrangements were made by the Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. Manfred Knoop of River Edge died Feb. 14. He was 62. He was the music director at Saint Elizabeth R.C. Church in Wyckoff, and the owner of Twinz Records and the Knoop Music Recording Studio. He was a conductor of several choral and music groups. He is survived by his wife Brigit (nee Joester), his children Kira and Nicholas Knoop, and his siblings Edith Rischer and Reinhold Knoop, both of Germany. Catherine M. Leesman of Franklin Lakes died Feb. 15. She was 92. Before retiring, she was a coordinator for the Curtis Wright Corporation in Wood-Ridge. She was a member of the Franklin Lakes Seniors. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Josephine (Tanis) Leesman. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home in Franklin Lakes. John G. Ragone of Wyckoff, formerly of Union City, died Feb. 11. He was 82. He was the owner of Art Carpentry in Wyckoff for many years. He is survived by his wife Grace (Lopocaro), his children Andrew, Anthony, and Gianluca, all of Wyckoff, and Michael of Hasbrouck Heights, four grandchildren, and his siblings Irene Colonna of Brooklyn, Lucia Pallotto of Passaic Park, Elizabeth Sclarea of Clifton, Josephine Sclano of Clifton, Lucrezia Barbieri of Passaic Park, Michael Ragone of Clifton, Maria Cirillo of Passaic Park, and Luca Ragone of Wyckoff. Arrangements were made by Shook Funeral Home in Clifton. Mary Elizabeth Schmitz of Midland Park, formerly of Closter, died Feb. 2. She was 94. She is survived by her sons Robert D. Schmitz, Ronald A. Schmitz, and Richard W. Schmitz, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Florence Martha Storms McAlevey of Wyckoff, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, Fair Lawn, and Toms River, died Feb. 5. She was 91. She attended the Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing and received her degree as a registered nurse. Her nursing career was spent at Paterson General Hospital, Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Hackensack University Medical Center. She had been a volunteer at local nursing homes. She is survived by her children James of Wyckoff and Carol Troy of Hingham, Massachusetts, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James J. McAlevey, and her grandson William J. McAlevey. Arrangements were made by Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River. James “Jim” Edward Voorman of Midland Park died Feb. 5. He was 82. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was the owner of the Ridgewood Laundry Co. until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Midland Park Senior Center in Midland Park. He is survived by his children Richard of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Craig of Hudson, Ohio, and Susan Bavagnoli of Wyckoff, eight grandchildren, his friend Marian Dunn, and his siblings Gary Voorman of Upland, California, Alida June Elwood, and Doris Malefyte, both of Canajoharie, New York. Basketball Association to meet The Midland Park Basketball Association will meet on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. downstairs in the Midland Park Public Library, 250 Godwin Avenue. Family Night set The Midland Park Recreation Department will host Family Night on Saturday, March 19 at the DePhillips Community Center, 50 Dairy Street from 7 to 9 p.m. The event will feature a DJ, dancing, karaoke, air hockey, ping pong, Guitar Hero, and board games. Auxiliary plans Fashion Show The Midland Park Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, March 9 at 10 a.m. in the Faith Reformed Church on 95 Prospect Street. New members are welcome. The auxiliary will be making plans for the Spring Fashion Show scheduled for April 12 at the Brownstone in Paterson. Tickets for the show will be distributed at this time. As part of the group’s regular activities, members volunteer at Kurth Cottage on the third Thursday of the month. Blue Jean Ball set Tickets for The Midland Park Public Education Foundation’s Blue Jean Ball are now available. The evening will feature live music by The Embracers, DJ entertainment by Midland Park resident John Gormley, and other surprise entertainment provided by members of the community.
