February 16, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 15 Park Windmill Saint Patrick’s Day Dance set Church of the Nativity will host its annual Saint Patrick’s Day Dance on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. An evening of dancing and a dinner buffet will be featured. Reservation forms may be found in the Church of the Nativity’s weekly bulletin or picked up at the back of the church. Tickets are $30 per person. Lions offer scholarships The Midland Park Lions Club is offering two $500 scholarships to Midland Park High School’s graduating seniors. High school seniors who reside in Midland Park and plan to attend an institution of higher learning are encouraged to apply. Students may contact their guidance counselors for an application. All other students may pick up an application from the Midland Park Public Library at 250 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park. Scholarships will be awarded based on the applications submitted, which will be at the sole discretion of the Midland Park Lion’s Club. Applications are due April 12. Foundation seeks used blue jeans The Midland Park Public Education Foundation’s Blue Jean Ball Decorating Committee is seeking 300 to 400 gentlyused blue jeans in all shapes and sizes for its March 5 gala event. After the event, the foundation will donate the jeans to a local charity. Jeans may be dropped off in the boxes located on the front porches at the following locations now through Feb. 22: 4 Westview Place, 252 Vreeland Avenue, or 106 Hillside Avenue. Tickets for the Blue Jean Ball are now available. This year’s event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at Saint Nicholas Church in Wyckoff. The evening will feature live music by The Embracers, DJ entertainment by Midland Park resident John Gormley, and other surprise entertainment provided by members of the community. Tickets are $55 each. This is a major fundraising event for the foundation. Proceeds will fund teacher generated classroom and district-wide grants. When purchasing tickets at www. mppef.org and using PayPal, there will be an opportunity to win additional prize basket tickets. The deadline to order tickets is Feb. 25. Library board of trustees to meet The Midland Park Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the library, 250 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Meetings are open to the public. Board of education plans meeting The Midland Park Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the August C. DePreker Media Center at Highland Elementary School. Kindergarten registration set The Midland Park School District advises parents of prospective kindergarten entrants that pre-registration will be handled by phone through Thursday, Feb. 17. To pre-register, parents should call (201) 445-5350 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Students with last names beginning with A through M may call either Monday, Feb. 14 or Wednesday, Feb. 16. Children with last names beginning with N through Z may call Tuesday, Feb. 15 or Thursday, Feb. Community Meals, Inc., a local non-profit organization, has been providing meals to the homebound since 1971. CMI serves residents of Allendale, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, and Waldwick. Meals are prepared by Valley Hospital and delivered to the Christ Church kitchen in Ridgewood, where volunteers pick up the food and deliver it to area residents. Summer Camp Open House set On Saturday, March 12, the Midland Park Recreation Department will host an Open House to showcase its summer programs. Parents and first-time campers are welcome to visit the DePhillips Community Center, 50 Dairy Street, between noon and 2 p.m. Open House attendees will meet the director and members of the staff, tour the facility, and learn about the program. Snow removal reminder The Borough of Midland Park reminds residents that they need to clear snow from sidewalks within 12 hours after the end of a storm. It is illegal to throw or deposit snow in the roadway; snow should be shoveled or blown away from the roadways. Residents are asked to clear snow away from fire hydrants near their properties so the fire department will have access to those hydrants from the street. Engaged? Just Married?
