Valentine’s Day is often a time for adult couples to show their affection. But Valentine’s Day is a fun time for children, too. Kids often enjoy handing out and receiving Valentine’s Day cards. Another Valentine’s Day tradition kids enjoy is the annual Valentine’s Day party. Parents hosting the party this year can make the most of the event with the following tips. Let kids make the invitations. Kids will get a kick out of making Valentine’s Day invitations for all their friends. Tools of the trade include construction paper, glitter, stickers, and any other accessories kids might feel are necessary. Parents who want to go the extra mile can take their kids around the neighborhood to hand deliver the invitations to their friends. Go big with balloons. No children’s party is complete

without balloons, and a Valentine’s Day party should include pink, red, and white balloons. If time permits, create an archway of balloons at the front door or tie balloons to the mailbox so other parents know where to drop the kids off. Remember the candy and cupcakes. Kids might have ulterior motives for enjoying Valentine’s Day that go beyond giving and receiving valentines. Candy and cupcakes are as much a part of Valentine’s Day for kids as they are for adults. Chocolate and cupcakes are favorites for kids and adults, so be sure to have some on hand for the party. If the weather permits, host a Valentine’s scavenger hunt in the backyard. Include prizes like Valentine’s stickers and chocolate. If the weather is too cold for a scavenger hunt, plan other activities that can be done indoors. This can include some dancing to kids’ favorite music or even

Jewelry tops the list of desired Valentine’s Day presents. According to U.S. Census studies, jewelry stores in the United States sell approximately $2 million in merchandise every Valentine’s Day. Each year leading up to Feb. 14, jewelry manufacturers fill the airwaves and store advertisements with the must-have jewelry trends of the season. Many women welcome the gift of jewelry, but prefer jewelry that is unique. Jewelry presents should be as unique as their recipient. But being personal, unique, and ensuring your jewelry piece will be worn takes a little effort. Consider these pointers. Many women appreciate a gift that features their birthstone, a favorite gem, or even a simple piece of gold. It all depends on her personality. Notice what type of jewelry she tends to wear and her color preferences. Figure out if she has her heart set on a particular piece.

Remember that jewelry is a personal gift. A one-stylefits-all gift simply may not work here. Again, think about her style and personality and use that as a guide for jewelry purchases. New is not necessarily better. Some women adore antique pieces. Personalize your pieces: Think about pieces that have unique meaning. Does she collect pearls? How about a charm bracelet that can be augmented each year? Even having a pendant engraved with a touching sentiment can be the way to ensure her gift is one-of-a-kind. Go with what works: If she’s a stud earring sort of gal, give her a new pair. Now is not the time to try out what you believe to be new and exciting. A woman can never have enough of her favorite type of jewelry.
