Register for spring recreation programs The Wyckoff Recreation Department will hold spring registration on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. and Wednesday, Feb.16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Eisenhower School cafeteria. There will not be a second Saturday registration. The spring schedule includes a co-ed T-ball program for boys and girls in kindergarten, a modified T-ball/baseball/ softball program for boys and girls in first grade, baseball for boys in grades two through eight, and softball for girls in grades two through eight. Boys in grades four through eight who will play recreation baseball will use wood bats this year. The fee for kindergarteners is $50, and the fee for children in grades one through eight is $70. The spring baseball/softball season will begin with practices in late March or early April. Games for players in grades two through eight will begin April 18. The season will end no later than June 12. Kindergarten T-ball will begin Saturday, April 30. The first grade program will begin on April 26. For more information, call (201) 891-3350 weekdays. Kindergarten registration to begin Registration for Wyckoff children who will begin kindergarten in September 2011 will be held Feb. 15 through 17 at Eisenhower Middle School, 344 Calvin Court, in Wyckoff. Registration is open to all township residents who will be five years old by Oct. 1, 2011. Registration will be take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on each of the three days; school administrators and nurses will be on site to answer questions. For the first time, the district will provide registration at a central location. No appointments are necessary, but parents are asked to note that that, in an effort to move the process along efficiently, an alphabetical order will be used. Registration will be open on Tuesday, Feb.15 for children whose last names begin with A through H, Wednesday, Feb 16 for those whose last names begin with I through R; and Thursday, Feb. 17 for those whose last names begin with S through Z. Four proofs of residency are required. Proofs of residency may include a parent or guardian’s driver’s license, proof of rent or mortgage payment, utility bill, tax bill, etc. Proof of the child’s age and identity, such as a birth certificate, baptismal or naming certificate, etc. are also required. The electronic system has been developed to help expedite the registration process. Preschool holds Open House Temple Beth Rishon Preschool will host an Open House featuring its programs for children from 15 months through six years of age. Plant expert to address gardeners The Wyckoff Area Garden Club will host Chris Rubino, northeast sales manager for Monrovia Growers, on Feb. 16 at the McFaul Environmental Center on Crescent Avenue, Wyckoff. Rubino will discuss the latest plant trends and what new introductions gardeners can expect to see at in 2011. Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 10 a.m. Retreat planned for clergy spouses The Church Relations Ministry of Christian Health Care Center will hold its annual Winter Clergy Spouses’ Retreat Day for the spouses of area clergy members on Feb. 9. The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the CHCC auditorium, 301 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff. Terri Dalton, MAMFT, IMFT, LMFT, will present “Your Life is Your Message: Tools for Living an Authentic Life.” Associate director of the program in pastoral care and counseling of the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church, Dalton is a pastoral marriage and family therapist, and works with ministry professionals and their families. Continental breakfast and hot buffet lunch will be served. Child care will be provided for pre-school age chil-

(continued from page 3) Wyckoff officials praised Fox for his handling of the situation. “I absolutely felt my life was in danger,” Fox said last week. “We were a foot apart and, when he grabbed for my gun, I quickly realized what the consequences might be if he got my gun out of the holster.” Fox was sequestered, and the trial was continued. Wyckoff Detective Michael Musto, who transported the defendant to Bergen County Medical Center, said the man told him that if he took Musto’s gun, he was going to shoot himself. Musto also said the defendant told him he almost got Fox’s gun, and was going to shoot the current police chief. Two women motorists also testified that the defendant had rammed their cars with his in what appeared to be a deliberate manner.
