John J. Cannizzo of Wyckoff died Jan. 24. He was 83. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a professional engineer and worked for United Water Resources (formerly Hackensack Water Company) in Harrington Park, serving as chief engineer from 1982 until his retirement in 1991. Previously, he held various positions including associate engineer at Buck, Seifert, and Jost, a consulting engineering firm; sanitary engineer for the California Division of Water Resources; chief engineer for the City of Santa Monica, California; and civil engineer with New York City’s Board of Water Supply. He graduated from Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff. He is survived by his wife Rosetta, his children Connie Stewart and Salvatore Cannizzo, and six grandchildren. Arrangements were made by at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Joseph De Boer of Wyckoff, formerly of Paramus, died Jan. 25. He was 91. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Before retiring, he worked in maintenance for Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Paramus. He was a parishioner and deacon at the First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook. He is survived by his son James De Boer. He was predeceased by his wife Wilma Van Steveninck. Edson of Wyckoff, formerly of Fair Lawn, died Jan. 18. He was 81. Before retiring in 1988, he was a machinist for General Electric in Paterson and Fair Lawn. He was a member of Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church in Fair Lawn. He is survived by his sister Elsie Huff of Charlotte, North Carolina, his niece Patricia Huff of Charlotte, North Carolina, and several cousins. David Koetsier of Longboat Key, Florida, formerly of Wyckoff and Wayne, died Jan. 26. He was 66. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the director of sales for Rockland Bakery in Nanuet, New York. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Van Der Wall), his daughter Cindy Tintle of Bend, Oregon, two grandchildren, and his brothers Steven Koetsier of Alexandria, Louisiana and Kenneth Koetsier of Atlanta, Georgia. Robert E. Leary of Los Angeles, California, formerly of Franklin Lakes, died Jan. 23. He was 52. He had attended Most Blessed Sacrament School in Franklin Lakes, and graduated from Ramapo High School in 1977. He received his bachelor’s degree from Niagara University. He worked as an actor in daytime soap operas and evening sitcoms. He pursued a career as a model, acted in television and motion pictures, and directed numerous plays. He was active in the preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright structures, having served as president of the board of directors of the Ennis House Foundation, and as a member of the Friends of the Hollyhock House organization. He was the recipient of numerous awards for his work and dedication to the preservation community. Memorial donations may be made to the All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills, California. John C. Manfredi Jr. of Midland Park died Jan. 22. He was 53. He was a receiver for A&P of Allendale for many years. He was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. He is survived by his wife Claudia (nee Shine) Manfredi, his daughters Christina and Rachel, and his brother Joseph Manfredi of Mendham. Adriana Radossi, nee Bosi, of Midland Park died Jan. 22. She was 83. She was a seamstress and member of the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union. She is survived by her children Sergio and Claudio, four grandchildren, and her sisters Maria Drazzafolie and Renzo Bosi. She was predeceased by her husband John. Arrangements were made by A.K. Macagna Funeral Home in Cliffside Park. Vernon P. Vreeland of Wyckoff, formerly of Fair Lawn, and Toms River, died Jan. 22. He was 96. He had been a machinist, chief tester, and trouble shooter for Wright Aeronautical in Paterson and Woodridge. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, Quinn Bowling League of Lakehurst, the Navy League of the United States, the Fair Lawn Seniors, and the Holy Name Society of Saint Maximilian Kolbe of Toms River. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s RC Church in Hawthorne, and a member of its Golden Horizon and Cornerstone groups. He was a volunteer at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. He is survived by his children William Vreeland and Melinda Heyer of Park Ridge, eight grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Concettina (nee Venezia) Vreeland. Pool ordinance input sought The Borough of Franklin Lakes is seeking residents’ input concerning a proposed ordinance that would require that all existing swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs comply with the requirements in the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code for new swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs. The proposed ordinance, if enacted, would require all existing swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs to comply with code requirements for fences. Affected residents are invited to speak at the Tuesday, Feb. 1 meeting at 7 30 p.m. in the council chambers at borough hall, 480 DeKorte Drive.
