Wyckoff
Pay ordinances introduced
by John Koster The Wyckoff Township Committee has introduced ordinances providing 2.75 percent salary increases for police officers and two percent increases for Wyckoff Department of Public Works employees. The ordinances, which were introduced at last week’s public meeting, are based on negotiations with both unions. Wyckoff patrol officers start at $41,384 and, after nine years of employment ore more, will earn a salary of $114,421. Sergeants will earn a salary of $120,031, and a lieutenant will earn a salary of $125,638.
The salaries do not include the cost of health benefits, longevity pay, or retirement payments. Police officers, however, contribute between $20 and $30 per pay period for health benefits. A recent ordinance requires that all sworn police officers be graduates of fouryear colleges or universities. The township committee, with the approval of Chief Benjamin Fox, introduced and adopted the ordinance in recognition of the excellent pay offered to Wyckoff police officers. The police chief’s salary is not part of the negotiated contract. (continued on page 27)
