Failure to comply with this law can result in a citation and fine. Fines range from $25 to $75. If failure to remove ice and snow results in injury or property damage, motorists could face fines ranging from $500 to $1,500 for each offense. Juried show seeks art entries The Ridgewood Art Institute invites area artists to submit an original work of art to The Ridgewood Art Institute’s 32nd Annual Juried Art Show. The event will be held Jan. 22 through Feb. 5 at the institute, 12 East Glen Avenue in Ridgewood. The event will award over $5,000 in cash and merchandise, with a top prize in the amount of $1,000. Amateur and professional artists will be judged on an equal basis. Participants may submit one original representational work, up to 44 inches framed, that has not previously been shown at the institute. Receiving will be held Jan. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. The show will not accept sculpture or crafts. The entry fee is $25 for members, and $30 non-members. Webcast to be presented The January Series of Calvin College will be videostreamed live at Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. from Jan. 4 through 24. The church is one of 34 remote webcast locations worldwide to broadcast the lecture and cultural arts series. The 25th Annual January Series will feature a lineup of nationally-acclaimed speakers including a former advisor to four presidents, a Broadway actress, one of the world’s foremost New Testament scholars and one of National Geographic’s 10 Adventurers of the Year. The experts will cover a wide range of today’s most relevant topics, offering bipartisan insights into the Obama administration, the divided Congress, and the 2012 election. They will also discuss the future of the Middle East and the future of Christianity in America, and will share thoughts on small farms, local food systems, and much more. Russian Music and Dance Festival set Barynya, a world-renowned Cliffside Park-based Russian music and dance ensemble, will perform an exhilarating mix of fast-paced Russian, Cossack, Ukrainian, Jewish, and Gypsy Roma traditional music and dance on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Sharp Theater, located in The Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Ensemble Barynya is considered one of the best Eastern European dance and music ensembles outside of Russia. Tickets are $26, $23 and $20 for adults and $15 for children under 17. There is a five percent discount off regular ticket prices for senior citizens.
