He had a career in sales. He was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff, where he served as an elder and was instrumental in starting the Carey Mississippi Mission Project. He is survived by his children Sharon Vander Weit of Midland Park, Pam Goemaat of Midland Park, and Tim of Grand Rapids, Michigan, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brothers Don De Blaey of North Carolina, and Dr. Gordon De Blaey of Michigan. He was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep’s Class of 1945, and Seton Hall University. He was an executive in the construction industry. He was a member of the Eaglewood Club of Hobe Sound, Florida, the Bay Head Yacht Club. He is survived by his children Kevin T. of Basking Ridge, Terrence P. of Franklin Lakes, Cynthia A. Coughlin of Neptune, and Moira E. Boyle of Skillman, 10 grandchildren, and his brother Robert of Camillus, New York. She was a stock clerk for Manhattan Shirt Company in Paterson for 10 years until her retirement in 1946. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Paterson and the White Cross Circle of the church. She is survived by her nieces and nephew Nancy Tully of Park Ridge, Marilyn Vallenino of Woodland Park, and Frank Hasko of Woodland Park. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Paul H. Vecchiotti, nee Bono, of Wyckoff, formerly of Ridgewood, died Dec. 8. She was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff. She is survived by her children Stephen Vecchiotti of Vernon and Corinne Canali of Wayne, two grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by her husband Camillo. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Jerry Weinstein of Mahwah, formerly of Wyckoff and Ridgewood, died Dec. 4. He was 83. He graduated from City College in New York with a B.S. in geology, and received a master’s in education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He began his career teaching science at the psychiatric unit at Bellevue Hospital. During the 1970s and 1980s, he taught special education and science for the Bergenfield school system. He was a member of the Ridgewood Ambulance Corps. He played clarinet with the Ridgewood Concert Band and Waldwick Band. Along with his wife, he owned two bed and breakfasts in Ocean Grove. He is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Bonnie Sarah Falk of Oakland, California, one grandson, stepsons Douglas, Bruce, and Duncan LaMonte, four step-grandchildren, and his sister Beatrice Wolin of Stoney Brook, New York. Myrtle Witte of North Haledon, formerly of Midland Park, died Dec. 4. She was 91. She was a member of the Covenant Christian Reformed Church in North Haledon. She is survived by her children Myrtle Teichmann and Richard Witte. She is also survived by Richard Witte’s wife Beverly, son-in-law William Terry, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Wyckoff Wanderings Military Bridge Night set The Coolidge School PTO will host its Military Bridge Evening on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Eisenhower School cafeteria. (Snow date: Jan. 19.) In addition to the bridge game, the evening will feature a prize basket fundraiser. Tickets are $7. Attendees may sign up in groups of four or fewer. Children’s programs offered The Wyckoff Public Library has planned programs for children at during December. Children ages one through four are invited to participate in “Fantastic Flights with Mother Goose” on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. In-person registration has begun in the children’s corner. As Mother Goose, Ann Coppola will guide children on an adventure through her fairytale kingdom of singing blackbirds, moon-jumping cows, and Humpty Dumpty eggs using movement, music, and props. Book discussion group are offered to children in grades three through five. Light refreshments will be served. Children in third grade will discuss “Ramona Quimby, Age 8” by Beverly Cleary on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 3:45 p.m. Students in fourth and fifth grade are invited on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 3:45 p.m. to discuss Andrew Clements’ “Extra Credit.” Copies of the books are available at the circulation desk.
