Wyckoff Wanderings
Art exhibit by DiMuro, Jennings Dana DiMuro and Katherine Jennings are the featured artists of the month at the Wyckoff Family YMCA, 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. DiMuro studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the School of Visual Arts. She has worked as a freelance art director for the past 20 years, designing catalogs and advertisements. Most recently, her love for painting and drawing has brought her back to the studio, where she has been exploring portraits and still lifes in oil, while continuing to draw the human figure. She is greatly influenced by the light, color, and brushwork of the impressionists; and the depth, luminosity, and draftsmanship of the old masters and academic artists. Affiliated with several art associations, including Studio Montclair and The Visual Arts Center, she has exhibited in various locations. Jennings has studied art in numerous cities including Florence, London, New York, and New Orleans. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the U.S., and her love of travel is reflected in her paintings. Spending considerable time in New Orleans each year, her work has been featured in a Garden District gallery for local artists. A member of various art associations, including the Ridgewood Art Institute and Studio Montclair, she cur-
rently studies at the Montclair Museum of Art. She has received several awards, including second place in the Caldwell Art Association’s Art on the Avenue and an Honorable Mention in the 2011 Saint Catherine of Bologna Art Exhibition. As an attorney licensed in both New York and New Jersey, she has practiced intellectual property law and is a certified art law mediator with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in NYC. The exhibit will be open to the public through Aug. 18 during regular operating hours. All work is for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Wyckoff Family Y. Wyckoff Police Department Report
(continued from page 7) On July 25, a Haledon resident reported that she had parked her car in the parking lot of the Wyckoff YMCA on Wyckoff Avenue. She left her purse on the seat of the unlocked vehicle and, when she returned, she found that the purse had been stolen. Cash, credit cards, and personal items were taken along with the purse. A 26-year-old Pennsylvania man who fled from the Wyckoff Police Department while he was speeding on Route 208 and later ditched his car in Wanaque has been remanded to Bergen County Jail with his bond set at $25,000. The driver was apprehended July 22, five days after the chase. He and his girlfriend, 36, also a Pennsylvania resident, were arrested and charged after Patrolman Mark Tagliareni attempted to stop them for a speeding violation. The woman was charged with hindering the apprehension of another person and released on her own recognizance. The driver was charged with eluding a police officer, numerous motor vehicle violations, and illegal possession of prescription pills. The abandoned car, found in Wanaque, was impounded by the Wyckoff police. The driver had an active arrest warrant from Passaic Count for his failure to comply with court orders stemming from a previous arrest. A Perl River, New York man was sent to the Bergen County Jail after he tried to use a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone pills at the Sicomac Pharmacy on July 21. The 26-year-old man was charged with forgery, attempting to use a forged prescription to obtain a dangerous substance, and illegal possession of oxycodone. The Wyckoff Police Department is investigating a fraudulent purchase made at Walgreen’s on July 29. At 6:11 p.m., Sergeant Kenneth Brown responded to Walgreen’s at 655 Wyckoff Avenue. His investigation determined that a man had purchased several items, including two $400 American Express gift cards, with a credit card that turned out to be fraudulent. Store security video tapes will be used in the investigation. Also on July 29, a resident of Meer Avenue reported the theft of a leaf blower from her garage. The Toro gas-powered blower was taken from the interior of the garage when the door was open. Patrolman Ryan Tenney investigated.
