McMahon The Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education recently appointed a new assistant principal at Ramapo High School and reappointed several other administrators. Claudia Dargento was appointed to the assistant principal’s position for the period of Aug. 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 at a salary of $106,700. She replaces Troy Lerderman who resigned to accept a position as principal in the Park Ridge school district. Dargento has 20 of years experience in education, having begun her career at Fair Lawn High School as a business teacher, volleyball coach, and Future Business Leaders of America advisor. While at Fair Lawn, Dargento was the coordinator of student activities for 10 years and she assisted in the introduction of new clubs and programs in the school and community. Dargento received her bachelor’s degree in business education from Montclair State University, a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Montclair State University, and a master’s degree in education technology from New Jersey City University. In 2006, she completed the New Jersey Expedited Certification in Educational Leadership Program from the Foundation for Educational Administration to receive her principal’s certification. For the past three years, Dargento has been working at James Caldwell High School as vice principal of students and academic affairs. “It is with great honor and excitement that I look forward to working with the staff, families, and students of the Ramapo Indian Hills school community,” Dargento stated. The school board also reappointed Al Evangelista as the principal of Indian Hills High School, Joe Collins as an assistant principal of Indian Hills, and Louis Moore as the principal of Ramapo High School. The board reappointed Linda Sisto as assistant principal at Ramapo High until July 31, and then as an assistant principal at Indian Hills High from Aug. 1 to June 30, 2012, replacing Lorenzo Baratta who was previously appointed as the school’s athletic and student activities director. A number of other appointments were also made, including athletic coaches at both schools and Julie Browne as executive assistant to the superintendent and board recorder. John Chang was named director of technology; Peter Kearney, coordinator of facilities and operations; and Beverly MacKay, director of curriculum and articulation. The board also renewed its contract with Aramark Educational Services to exclusively operate and manage the district’s food service program for 2011-12. In addition, the board passed a resolution accepting with regret the retirement of Elaine Ferro who has been the district’s confidential secretary for the business administrator and board secretary and general office clerk for 33 years.
