To be eligible, players must meet all of the Midland Park Baseball Association recreation/travel requirements. Attendees must be 12 years of age on or before April 30, 2012. In the event of overwhelming response to the program, a tryout will be scheduled and players will be reviewed by an outside evaluator. The cost of the evaluator will be split among those players who attend the tryout. Parents should be prepared to participate in the year-long fundraising required to send the team to Cooperstown. Chiropractic center to treat returning veterans Nuzzi Chiropractic Family & Sports Center is teaming up with Army OneSource, a U.S. Army Community outreach program, and the Army Community Covenant to raise awareness of the unique challenges of military life on service members and their families and to address the growing need for accessible health services. As part of its commitment to this cause, Nuzzi Chiropractic Family & Sports Center will treat returning veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars for free for a minimum of 60 days. The Association of New Jersey Chiropractors made a commitment statewide by signing a community covenant that commits volunteer chiropractors to treating these returning veterans as part of the “Healing Hand 4 Heroes” program. Alliance provides summer counseling The Midland Park Alliance Committee, in cooperation with the Midland Park Board Education, will provide counseling for Midland Park students this summer. Atlantic City trip for seniors planned The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center in Midland Park will host a trip to Caesar’s Casino on Wednesday, Aug. 31. The trip is offered to adults age 60 and over. The bus will depart from the Midland Park Municipal Parking Lot on Highland Avenue at 8 a.m. and will return at about 7 p.m. The $25 per person charge includes the bus, the driver’s tip, and $25 in slot play. All participants must have a valid photo ID to receive the casino bonus. Register and pay for the trip at the senior center located at 46-50 Center Street in Midland Park. The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center is open to all area senior citizens age 60 and up. Jericho Road provides homeless men with food, shelter, employment, counseling, freedom from addiction, and hope. To advance the outreach effort, Sal Lauretta for Men will offer a 20 percent discount off entire purchases of regularly priced items.
