Passover celebrated at Beth Rishon Temple Beth will continue its Passover celebration with services and a luncheon on the first day of Passover, April 19, and the seventh day, April 25. Services for both days will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Yizkor will be recited on April 25 at the morning service and at 7 p.m. The annual congregational Passover Seder will be held on April 19 at 6 p.m. The Seder will be led by Rabbi Ken Emert and Cantor Ilan Mamber. The meal will be catered by Foster Village Kosher Deli. The cost is $55 per adult 18 and older, $20 per child ages 10-17 and $10 per child ages five through nine. United Methodist celebrates the season Midland Park United Methodist Church, 269 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, will commemorate the Last Supper at a traditional Table of Twelve communion liturgy at 7:30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 21. Holy Week at Old Paramus Church Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church invites the community to its Holy Week services. Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church will hold a service of personal meditation, prayers, and music, with Communion for all who wish to participate on Maundy Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. The 21-voice Chancel Choir will undertake parts of “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace,” composed in 2001 by Englishman Karl Jenkins, and first performed by 150 voices at a concert in Wales. Recorded on DVD, it was released one week prior to 9/11. Two Good Friday services will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The service will be based on “The Stones of Suffering.” At both services, each worshiper will be given a stone as a symbol of personal suffering, and join in a series of Scripture readings, prayers, hymns, and extinguishing of candles into darkness. On April 24, Easter Sunday, at 10 a.m. the church will celebrate Christ’s Resurrection. The sermon will be by Pastor Marsden, and special music by the choir, organ and brass, will concludes with the congregation joining the Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” The church is located at 660 East Glen Avenue in Ridgewood. Call (201) 444-5933. Services at Christ Church announced Christ Church continues to celebrate Holy Week with Holy Eucharist offered on Wednesday, April 20. On Maundy Thursday, April 21, at 6:30 pm, there will be a light supper with Eucharist and a stripping of the altar, followed by a vigil. Attendees are asked to call the church if they are planning to attend the supper. There will be three services offered on Good Friday, April 22: a simple liturgy at 7 a.m. with Eucharist, followed at 4 p.m. with Stations of the Cross for children and families. At 7 p.m., there will be a choral worship liturgy with Eucharist. On April 23 at 7 p.m., Easter Vigil with Holy Baptism will be held at All Saints’ Church, 40 Central Avenue in Glen Rock. Easter Sunday, April 24, will be celebrated with two services at 8 a.m. Holy Eucharist service, and a 10:15 a.m. Festival Holy Eucharist. On Maundy Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., communion will be offered around tables in the church’s Peace Lounge. On Good Friday, the sanctuary will be open for prayer from noon to 3 p.m. Hourly prayer guides will be available. Members of the board of deacons will serve as hosts. On Easter Sunday, April 24, an early service will be held at 7:30 a.m. The stained glass window depictions of the life of Jesus will be featured as focal points for meditation. An informal breakfast will follow. At 10:30 a.m., the Easter celebration will take place with choir and handbells.
