(continued from page 17) “Having two young children in our schools, I have a vested interest in the quality and direction of the Franklin Lakes School District,” Urciuoli stated. “My father was the first member of his family to graduate from college, and my mother was a special education teacher for over 35 years. Education has always been, and remains, a cornerstone of my family’s values. “My wife and I founded and operate a private family charitable foundation to support and enhance the quality of education nationwide. We have issued grants to fund scholarships for deserving children, and financially support a number of organizations. This gratifying experience has motivated me to do more locally within our own school district. As a first step, I am serving on the district’s Efficiency Committee, but I am excited to contribute more as a member of the board of education. “It is my passion for education that inspires me to volunteer my time, energy, and ideas to our community, our education system, and most of all our children. It is an honor to participate in this process.” Martino has lived in Franklin Lakes since 1999 and has three children: One attends the Woodside Avenue School, another attends the Franklin Avenue Middle School, and the third attends the Bergen County Academy. “Our community and its excellent schools are facing mounting challenges as a distressed economic environment highlights the need to prudently manage resources,” Martino stated. “Balancing the goals of a top notch educational system with the need to be fiscally responsible will require that we elect the most experienced and creative trustee team. The repeated call will be to do more with less. I have a long track record of success in similar environments and am dedicated to fulfilling my role as trustee with professionalism. “As a senior executive of firms which focus on the financially prudent development and deployment of compelling new technologies, I have extensive functional experience in the areas of business management, financial planning, and information technology to compliment my educational background as an MBA. Further, I have significant board experience as a chairman, CEO, advisor, and board trainer. “I am active in our community and have a history of investing in the development of our children and town. The municipal subcommittee which I lead was successful in cutting telecom expenses by more than 50 percent for taxpayers. I also assisted the district in procuring the fiber optic network for more than $100,000 less than initially proposed. “Overall, I believe my experience as a manager, board member, instructor, and innovative technologist will be a benefit to the community, as we seek to simultaneously improve the quality of education, while meeting our fiduciary responsibilities to all taxpayers. My roles as father and husband provide me with the motivation to commit the time and energy necessary to be a productive board member.” 4-6-11 ester/janine
