(continued from Restaurant page) Disney Home Entertainment). The five-disc set includes the 3D Blu-ray version of “Tron: Legacy” and 2D Blu-ray and DVD editions of both films, along with a digital copy. The original “Tron” was a box office disappointment, even though its effects were cutting edge at the time. “Tron: Legacy” connects the events of the two films with a story that opens in 1989. The two films span close to 30 years in real time. The original film’s main character, Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), has had a son since escaping his digital dungeon, upgraded his computer company to beyond state-of-the-art, and returned to the Grid only to get trapped there. Following Kevin’s disappearance, his son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) has grown to manhood and is driven to follow in his father’s footsteps. The special effects are dazzling, but don’t have the impact they once did because nearly every action film made today features a wide range of computer graphic trickery. The effects here overshadow the plot and viewers really don’t care much about the characters, who often seem more like video game pawns than human beings. It is eerie to see how the computer artists have made Jeff Bridges look younger. There are several making-of featurettes showing how many of the effects were created, and a music video. To watch the movie in Blu-ray 3D, viewers will need an HD 3D TV, compatible glasses, a Blu-ray 3D player or Playstation 3, and high speed cable. “Behemoth” (Vivendi Entertainment) is one of the SyFyFINLEY Saturday night original movies made in Channel’s

the style of the sci-fi flicks of the 1950s. In “Behemoth,” the quiet town of Ascension is violently shaken when a long-dormant volcano begins to grumble. Special agents from the Department of Defense soon discover evidence of an enormous ancient beast ready to rise from its earthen grave. A small band of people must locate the DOD’s special weapon and destroy the monster before time runs out. The film is great fun, reminiscent of those monster pictures in which atomic blasts released assorted creatures -all huge and intent on obliterating mankind -- that caused havoc before being destroyed by the final credits. Special effects are bargain-basement, but that adds to the fun, as do the deadly serious portrayals by a cast of unknowns. There are no extras. “The Inheritance” (Image Entertainment) has five cousins seeking the truth about their ancestral fortune, which has been buried for centuries, dating back to the time of slavery. An invitation from the family’s patriarch (Keith David), along with a series of supernatural events and mysterious disappearances at a long anticipated family reunion, force this once tight-knit family to discover how far they are willing to go to obtain their inheritance. When Aunt Felicia arrives in the middle of the night to deliver urgent news about the clan’s ties to the occult and the ominous events that lie ahead, the cousins must accept the truth of their destiny and either choose the sacrifices that must be made or turn their backs on disturbing, centuries-old customs and the wealth and privilege that come with them. Though unrated, “The Inheritance” is horror-lite, and fans of graphic horror will likely be disappointed. There are a lot of foreboding moments, but the payoff is always tame. The novelty is that the film’s main characters are AfricanAmerican. Available in both Blu-ray and DVD, the movie by G.M. Smith contains no extras.
