Warren Avenue track and roadway repairs delayed
by Jennifer Crusco New Jersey Transit has advised Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Administrator Don Cirulli that the Warren Avenue track and roadway repairs slated to for this month will not begin until late summer. In March, New Jersey Transit held a preconstruction meeting with Ho-Ho-Kus officials in anticipation of the two-week repair project the company had planned for an April 1 start. The company subsequently advised that the work would be delayed until April 8, but later advised that the job would be on hold until New Jersey Transit could secure the necessary materials. Cirulli said New Jersey Transit now anticipates the project will begin some time in August. New Jersey Transit plans to replace the section of tracks now located in the Warren Avenue roadway and will repave the street. Cirulli noted that New Jersey Transit had been asked to coordinate its work with Bergen County, which is still in the midst of repairs to the Warren Avenue Bridge. The goal, Cirulli said, was to have New Jersey Transit finish its project while the county was still at work on the bridge. However, given the latest delay, Cirulli said the bridge project will likely be completed before the work on the tracks begins. The Warren Avenue Bridge was closed to all motorists and pedestrians in the fall of 2010 so county crews could begin a complete refurbishment of that structure. Plans had called for that project to be finished at the end
Artist Dr. Jonathan Deutsch will exhibit his work at the Gallery of the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes during the month of April. Dr. Deutsch has explored his fascination with both art and medicine through the study and practice of each concentration. He was mentored in painting and sculpture by Ion Theodore while attending the Horace Mann School in New York, and has continued to paint and sculpt as an adult. His early art studies provided a way to enhance his ability to observe, examine, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients. Each field of study became mutually interdepen-

of 2010, but winter weather conditions did not allow for certain aspects of the project to be completed, Cirulli said. The county’s crews must pour concrete, paint, and install lights. A county official recently advised the borough that the bridge project should be completed by the end of the spring or the beginning of summer. The bridge refurbishment project involves new reinforcements, resurfacing of the deck, new sidewalks, and new lights. The $1.2 million project is being carried out by the Joseph M. Sanzari Building Corporation. Built in 1905, the Warren Avenue Bridge is a through truss bridge that allows vehicular and pedestrian traffic to cross over the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook on Warren Avenue. The bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
dent and has provided a means to improve upon the understanding of what is seen and being investigated. A resident of northern New Jersey, Dr. Deutsch continues to enjoy experimenting with different styles, techniques, and motifs. Recently he started using encaustics. This technique dates back thousands of years and is quite durable. The Gallery of the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes is located at 730 Franklin Lake Road.
