Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • September 22, 2010 Ramsey Five men have been charged in connection with car burglaries that took place at Ramapo College in Mahwah. The arrests were made Sept. 10 after Ramsey Police Patrolman Michael Parise made a motor vehicle stop on Route 17. Parise observed a dark colored Mercedes Benz wagon traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane of Route 17 South. He initiated a traffic stop, and observed four passengers in addition to the driver. The driver offered Parise false identification: a family member West Milford police card. When questioned, the driver admitted that the card did not belong to him and that it was found in a wallet at Ramapo College. During the course of the investigation, Parise received consent to search the vehicle. The results of the search pro- Five charged in connection with car burglaries duced four Tom Tom GPS units, a Magellan Road Map GPS, a Radio Shack Radar Detector, seven assorted GPS units, wireless headphones, an iPod 80 GB, and numerous accessories for GPS and other electronic systems. After the search, it was determined many of the proceeds were from car burglaries at Ramapo College. Police also learned that the West Milford police card was stolen in during a burglary at Ramapo College. It was determined that numerous car burglaries occurred at Ramapo College and all of the occupants were involved. A metal pipe was used to break windows. The individuals charged included a 20-year-old man from West New York. He was charged with hindering apprehension, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. A Weehawken man, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. The driver, an 18-year-old man from North Bergen, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Another North Bergen man, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property. The third North Bergen man, 21, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
