Ramsey September 22, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 3 Ramsey Council President Art Nalbanian has announced that he will withdraw from the November ballot, and will leave his seat on the governing body after his term expires at the end of December. “It was a tough decision,” Nalbandian told Villadom TIMES. “It was a purely personal decision. I had been wrestling with it. I like being a council person and the things I’ve been working on, but it’s difficult to devote the time to do the job as it should be done. I don’t want to shortchange my colleagues or the people of Ramsey.” He added, “There was no strife. It was purely a personal decision.” Nalbandian is an attorney and has resided in the borough for 12 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA, an MBA in finance and real estate from Columbia University, and a JD from Rutgers University. He has been a councilman since 2005, and served as council president in 2007. He returned to that position this summer, after then-Council President Andrew Siemsen resigned. Nalbandian, who is now completing his second term on the council, said he had planned to serve for a maximum of three terms. The Republican council member will be replaced on the November general election ballot by Harry J. Weber. Council president steps down; Weber to take place on ballot Originally from Piermont, New York, Weber and his wife Donna moved to Ramsey in 1996. He has been active in school activities and with the Knights of Columbus. He is a coach for the Ramsey Baseball and Softball Association and serves as president of his daughter’s league. “It’s time-consuming, but very rewarding,” Weber said of his work with the RBSA. Weber is a graduate of Manhattan College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He subsequently earned a master’s in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in project management. For the last 15 years, he has been managing director of trading services for the New York Stock Exchange. In that capacity, Weber manages the logistics of the stock exchange’s trading floor. Weber is the father of two: Angela and Harry. Commenting on his candidacy, Weber said, “This is a great opportunity for me. I love the town and I like what the council is doing.” He added that he appreciates the council’s work to stabilize taxes, and is ready to put in the effort to help the borough. “I want to retire here. I hope to stay for good,” Weber added.     Second Hand Treasures Ramsey Public Education Foundation Vice President Leslie Simpson (left) and President Sue Gjini (right) welcome local women to attend Ladies Night Out on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m..
