On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Seventh Annual Waldwick Day from 12 to 4 p.m. at Borough Park. Waldwick Day features live family entertainment, a host of activities, and multiple vendors who will be offering a variety of items for sale. More than 50 Waldwick businesses, civic groups, and volunteer organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, which is building low-cost housing in the borough, will have booths set up to introduce themselves to the community and give out items. Center for Food Action will be accepting donations of canned or packaged food to fill its pantry. “Come out for a fun-filled day and support local business,” urged chamber President Christine Figliuolo. Attractions and entertainment will include: face painters, a cartoonist, chair massages, carnival games, raffle prizes, a demonstration by Zumba NJ at 1:15 p.m., clowns, magic tricks and a car raffle. DJ Willie will provide music throughout the afternoon. The Kangaroo Jones Band will perform from 12 to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 2:30 p.m., and The School of Rock will perform from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Servpro will sponsor its now famous pie eating contests from 2 to 3 p.m. The Duck Derby, sponsored by the Waldwick Lions Club, will begin at 3:30 p.m. The pavilion will be turned into a food court, with local eateries Italian Riviera, A Savvy Affair and Ho-Ho-Kus Bagels and Deli offering their specialties. This is a great opportunity to sample all the specialties Waldwick has to offer and to meet local service providers. Hot dogs, zeppoli, fresh baked goods and fresh-squeezed lemonade will also be available. Well-known author and photographer Walter Choroszewski will present “Getting to Know Your Digital Camera,” at the Waldwick Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The presenter brings his expertise, humor, and “straight talk” perspective to this informal, introductory class covering the basics of photography and how to apply them in the digital age. Choroszewski will demystify menus and megapixels, clarify expectations, and discuss the limitations of digital photography. Participants are encouraged to bring a digital camera to the workshop. For more than 30 years, Choroszewski has been celebrating and showcasing the best of New Jersey through his many photographic books and calendars about the state.
