Now, these entrepreneurs, whose business is a premier service provider with Coldwell Banker Concierge®, hope to build a team that will help expand and redesign Taylor’s room into a haven of convenience and fun that is specially suited for a child who is confined to a wheelchair. Taylor currently lives in his grandmother’s Cape Cod-style home in a room he shares with his mother. He and his mom recently moved to Midland Park after his mom was no longer able to pick him up out of his Professionals asked to lend a hand to makeover effort wheelchair and carry him up and down the stairs to their second floor apartment. The bedroom they now share is located off a large porch which “offers the perfect opportunity for expansion,” said Grant, who has known Taylor’s grandmother for over 10 years. Taylor requires round-the-clock care, and it has been impossible for his single mother to find work outside the home, placing an additional financial burden on the family. While the home is wheelchair accessible, space is an issue, particularly as Taylor’s equipment has continued to grow with him. “When they moved in, my first thought was how we could make life better for this family,” said Grant. “And my first response was to use every bit of talent Midland Park Matters September 15, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 15 we have been given to make their home convenient and comfortable, and also afforded them both the privacy they need,” said Lattanzi-Tarleton.
