Ramsey September 8, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 9 Ryan Fowler, son of Kevin and Lorraine Fowler of Ramsey, has been named the 2010 recipient of the Michael Hardy Edwards Scholarship. This award is given in memory of Michael Hardy Edwards, an alumnus of the College of William and Mary, who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who resides in the Greater New York area and best exemplifies the characteristics of Michael Hardy Edwards, as determined by his wife, Jackie Edwards. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of character, academic achievement, community service, and participation in high school sports. Fowler wins Michael Hardy Edwards Scholarship Fowler is a member of the National Honor society and a four-year recipient of the Scholastic R at Ramsey High School. He was an active member of Outside the Box, a group founded by four classmates, and of DECA, the international business club. He was named DECA Student of the Year for three years, and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He was the opinion editor for The Ram (Ramsey High School’s newspaper), and was a member of the varsity swim team for four years, serving as captain during his senior year. Fowler is now a freshman at the College of William and Mary, where he is studying marketing and finance. The Woman’s Club of Ramsey will sponsor a Military Bridge event on Oct. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge T the corner of Franklin Turnpike and Main Street, Ramsey. The evening will include a fundraiser, door prizes, Woman’s Club plans Military Bridge event and refreshments. Proceeds from the event will benefit community non-profit organizations.
