Bible Study, book groups to begin The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey has several events planned for the month of September. “Living beyond Yourself: A Beth Moore Bible Study Series” will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Metzger Room. The church is located at 15 Shuart Lane, Ramsey. Healing Mass planned Father John Campoli, IV Dei will hold the annual Healing Mass on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. at Saint Paul’s RC Church
on Main Street in Ramsey. After the service, there will be a healing prayer along with laying on of hands. Fr. Campoli has taken his healing prayer ministry to Europe, the Caribbean, Japan, Canada, and the United States. He conducts parish missions and special retreats, the next one being the Marian site pilgrimage to Medjugorije in early December. Ramsey High classes set reunion The Ramsey High School Classes of 1960 and 1961 will hold a combined 50th/49th reunion the weekend of Sept. 25. Knights plan Charity Golf Outing The Ramsey Knights of Columbus will hold a Charity Golf Outing on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Wallkill Golf Club in Middletown, New York. The cost of $130 includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, breakfast, lunch, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, open bar, prizes, a hole-in-one contest, and longest drive and closest to the pin contests. ESL classes to begin Ramsey adults who have some English skills and want to practice their vocabulary and speaking skills are invited to the Ramsey Library on Wednesday mornings. ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are led by Mary Casey, a trained ESL instructor. Because these are formal classes, no children will be permitted. The class will meet every Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and will meet from Sept. 8 through Dec. 22. No class will be held Nov. 24. In-person registration and proof of Ramsey residency is required. The Ramsey Public Library’s temporary location is at 171 Lake Street, in the Pavilion Building near Route 17, Ramsey. Senior picnic, fall programs set The Annual Ramsey Seniors Picnic will be held at the Ramsey Pool at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 15. All Ramsey residents who are at least 60 years of age are welcome to attend. Sign up at borough hall. The price of $5 includes hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, beverages, and dessert. Picnic tables will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs. There will be an Oktoberfest luncheon at the center on Friday, Oct. 8 at noon. Space is limited. Sign-up will begin Friday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. in borough hall. The cost is $8 for an authentic German style meal. A new eight-week course in Tai Chi will begin Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. The cost is $10. Sign up at borough hall. The course will run through Oct. 28. Yoga classes will resume Sept. 17 at 9:50 a.m. The cost for the eight-week course is $10. Sign up at borough hall. Stop by the senior center for a copy of the monthly calendar. RHS Band and Guard fundraiser set A benefit for the Ramsey High School
Marching Band and Color Guard will be held Sept. 14 and 15, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., at Chili’s on Route 17 in Ramsey. Juniors plan fall events The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will resume meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Rescue building on Island Road. The club invites the community to visit its booth on Ramsey Day, Sept. 11. The group will be selling glow jewelry for nighttime events. Members will be available to answer questions about the club. The Juniors will host a Touch-a-Truck fundraiser at the Ramsey Farmers Market on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children will have an opportunity to walk inspect, climb on, and learn about a variety of trucks. This event will feature rescue and fire trucks, police vehicles, ambulances, construction vehicles, and more. Donations will benefit Ramsey’s emergency services. On Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Juniors will be the non-profit guest of the Farmers Market. Attendees are invited to join in the pumpkin painting activity. Also in October, the club will host the Annual Pink Lemonade Sale at Shop Rite, a benefit for breast cancer awareness. The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey serves and supports the community through volunteering, fundraising, and social events. Beefsteak Comedy Night set The Ramsey PBA #155 has planned a Beefsteak Comedy Night for Saturday, Nov. 13.
