All work is for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Wyckoff Family Y. “Every painting is a self portrait,” according to Liron Sissman. “The flowers in my work represent an image that viewers of diverse backgrounds can relate to. Overcoming superficial dissimilarities, they serve as portraits of universal appeal.” Sissman’s landscapes, like her flowers, are not merely York City and throughout the Northeast. This award-winning artist has been the subject of many press articles and reviews. Her works are sought after by corporate collectors and by individuals in the United States and abroad. Cooperman is a painter of natural realism with works commissioned since 1989 by Memorial Sloane-Kettering, Riverside Square Mall, movie theaters, and corporations. Her paintings explore the use of chromatic color and iridescence throughout all choices of subjects and painting media on the theory that colors vibrate and radiate when used with others. Many of her paintings incorporate a combination of Liron Sissman and Marcie Cooperman are the featured intended to reflect nature, but to project an inner journey. Wyckoff Sale Days! Sept. 9, 10, 11 Sissman, Cooperman featured in September exhibit Sixth Annual Buddy Walk coming next month The Sixth Annual Bergen Buddy Walk hosted by The Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Northern New Jersey Down Syndrome Alliance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Wyckoff Y, 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Participants may register at 10 a.m. and the one-mile walk will begin at 11 a.m. Some of the day’s events will include live music, a real fire truck to explore, face painting, exhibits, information from special needs organizations, games, giveaways, prizes, and food. Sponsorships and registrations are currently being accepted. Registration fees for the walk are: $10 per individual, $25 per family (two adults and two children), and $5 for each additional child, age 13 and under. Registrations include a T-shirt, lunch, ice cream, and drinks upon crossing the finish line (while supplies last). Participants can organize a team of 10 or more to collectively raise pledges and have a team photo taken by a photographer. Sponsorship and recognition opportunities begin at $100. All donations are 100 percent tax-deductible. The Buddy Walk has three primary goals: to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome; to raise funds both locally and a nationally for education, research, and advocacy programs; and to enhance the position of the Down syndrome community. Last year, 1,200 walkers raised over $94,000 for research, educational programs, and for the Billy’s Buddies and Shining Star Express programs offered at the Wyckoff Family YMCA.
