Russell Avenue construction planned Beginning at 6 a.m. on Aug. 31, Russell Avenue in Wyckoff will be closed until 6 p.m. The closure will be between Wyckoff Avenue and Route 208. Work is expected continue for one week. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes. Vehicles traveling in either direction of Russell Avenue will be directed to follow a posted detour. Those who live along the closed section of Russell Avenue or the adjacent streets may access their homes from either the Route 208 or the Wyckoff Avenue approach. No work is planned for evening hours except in emergencies, and Russell Avenue will be open to traffic each day after 6 p.m. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times. Beefsteak benefit features music legends Hear the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli and bassist Jerry Bruno at the Sixth Annual Beefsteak Dinner of the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood. The event will be held at 215 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour featuring homemade hors d’oeuvres, followed by a dinner of unlimited salad, steak, french fries, dessert, wine, beer, soda, coffee, and tea. Proceeds will benefit Gilda’s Clubs New Jersey, which provide counseling and support services for cancer patients and their families. Knights plan Charity Golf Outing The Ramsey Knights of Columbus will hold a Charity Golf Outing on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Wallkill Golf Club in Middletown, New York. The cost of $130 includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, breakfast, lunch, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, open bar, prizes, a hole-in-one contest, and longest drive and closest to the pin contests. Art & Craft Fair set The Ridgewood Fall Art & Craft Street Fair will be held on Sunday, Sept. 12, from noon to 5 p.m. downtown on East Ridgewood Avenue. The show is sponsored by Ridgewood Parks & Recreation and promoted by P.J.’s Promotions. Approximately 140 exhibitors from six states will be at the show. The fair will feature fine photography and art, metal sculpture, folk art, handmade jewelry, women’s and girls’ apparel, fiber, handmade purses, country crafts, children’s items, framed sports items, stained glass, hand thrown pottery, American Girl doll items, hand pained mailboxes, turned wood bowls, mosaics, and much more. A large children’s area will be set up in the park, and Walnut Street will have pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting. Information Night slated Saint Elizabeth Interparochial School will host a High School Information Night on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the school located on Greenwood Avenue in Wyckoff. barely begun to recover from a local water main break that caused the evacuation of all of its cats and dogs, when they discovered the water main had broken for a second time within 24 hours. The shelter is asking for donations of bedding, sheets, towels, blankets, dog beds, toys, treats, dry dog food (preferably Nutro or Pedigree), and cleaning supplies, including bleach and paper towels. Gift cards to Petsmart, Staples, or Shop Rite would also be appreciated. Monetary donations can be made through Paypal from the shelter’s website at www.rbari.org or by sending a check payable to RBARI to 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436. RBARI is a non-profit, no-kill shelter. The shelter relies on contributions from individuals and businesses for the housing, medical treatment, training, and feeding of its animals as they await adoption. Support group offered Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River is offering a support program for individuals who are going through separation or divorce or experiencing the end of a relationship. Participants will learn the process of change, communication, and self-awareness while discovering a path for human growth and self-esteem. Teams of trained facilitators will assist in coaching the emotions of grief, anger, guilt, loneliness, fear, anxiety, depression, forgiveness, and self-love. Sessions will begin on Monday, Sept. 20 and will continue through Nov. 22. The program will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Gathering Room North. Employment workshop scheduled Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church’s Career Resources Ministry, in its continuing effort to provide help to people seeking employment, will present the first of a four-part series of fall/winter workshops on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. The workshop will be held in the meeting room in the lower church and is open to anyone seeking employment and those who anticipate possible unemployment. Parish membership is not required. Workshops are presented by the Career Resources Ministry whose members are dedicated to helping those seeking employment. Professionals in the field will present the workshop and will be on hand to give advice. This work-
shop topic is “Create Your Communication Strategy and Resume.” Participants should bring a recent resume or job experience information. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
