Juniors plan fall events The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will resume meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Rescue building on Island Road. The club invites the community to visit its booth on Ramsey Day, Sept. 11. The group will be selling glow jewelry for night-time events. Members will be available to answer questions about the club. The Juniors will host a Touch-a-Truck fundraiser at the Ramsey Farmers Market on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children will have an opportunity to walk inspect, climb on, and learn about a variety of trucks. This event will feature rescue and fire trucks, police vehicles, ambulances, construction vehicles, and more. Donations will benefit Ramsey’s emergency services. On Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Juniors will be the non-profit guest of the Farmers Market. Attendees are invited to join in the pumpkin painting activity. Also in October, the club will host the Annual Pink Lemonade Sale at Shop Rite, a benefit for breast cancer awareness. The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey serves and supports the community through volunteering, fundraising, and social events. Annual Jack McKeown Run set The 33rd Annual Jack McKeown Memorial Ramsey Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Ramsey Municipal Pool on East Oak Street. The 10K will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9:45 a.m. Trophies will be awarded for the first three finishers in a variety of age cat- egories. In addition to the 10K and 5K races, this year there will be a 1.2 mile walk immediately following the awarding of the 5K trophies. This walk is part of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign The pre-registration fee is $20, and will rise to $25 on the day of the race. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 participants. All pre-race entries must be received by Thursday, Sept. 23. Daisy Girl Scouts registration open Girls who will be entering kindergarten this fall are invited to join a Daisy Girl Scout troop. Troops are forming and recruitment sheets and information are available at the Ramsey Free Public Library’s temporary location at 171 Lake Street. Register for Ramsey Day Dog Show The Eleventh Annual Ramsey Day Dog Show, sponsored by the Ramsey Recreation Commission, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the municipal pool located on East Oak Street, at 1 p.m. Rain date is Sept. 12. New this year is a leash-led obstacle course, which promises to add lots of fun to the event. In addition to the obstacle course, designed by Recreation Commissioner John Sebastian, dogs will be judged in seven categories. The registration fee is $5 per category per dog, and preregistration is suggested. Registration forms are available at the Ramsey Municipal Building at 33 North Central Avenue, the public library, post office, and municipal pool, or at www.ramseynj.com. Foundation to host benefit The Ramsey Public Education Foundation will host a Ladies Night Out fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. The evening will include food stations, hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, baskets filled with prizes, and special contests. Entertainment will be provided by the Ramsey High School Jazz Quartet.
