On Nov. 2, Ramsey’s registered voters will be asked to endorse incumbent Republican Mayor Christopher Botta, incumbent GOP Councilwoman Vanessa Jachzel, and newcomer Harry Weber, who replaced former council member Art Nalbandian on the ballot after Nalbandian withdrew from the race. Jachzel and Weber are running unopposed for the two three-year terms on the borough council. Kenneth Tyburczy, a Republican who was named to the council seat formerly held by Andrew Siemsen, will run for Siemsen’s one-year unexpired term. He will be challenged by Independent candidate Brian Behrmann. Chris Botta presently serves as the Mayor of Ramsey. He was elected to a four year term in 2006. He has resided on South Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey since 1995 with his wife, Lisa, and three sons, who are 13, 11, and 9. Mayor Botta received his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York City. Mayor Botta is a practicing attorney with the law firm of Botta & Associates in Ramsey. He is the municipal prose-

As mayor, he also serves on the Ramsey Library Board, the Ramsey Planning Board and is chairman of the Ramsey Board of Public Works. “It would be my privilege and honor to serve the residents of Ramsey as mayor for a second term of office,” Botta said. “Although I believe that we have accomplished much in my first term, many challenges lie ahead for our borough, and I feel that our team is especially suited to meet these challenges.” Jachzel is running for her second term on the Ramsey Council. She has been a Ramsey resident since 2004 and has three sons, ages 4, 6, and 10. She has practiced law for eight years and is now the owner of a retail computer services business. The councilwoman is a member of the Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey. Prior to serving on the council, she was a member of the Ramsey Board of Adjustment and the Ramsey Centennial Committee. The councilwoman is chair of the council’s Public
and Governmental Relations Committee, and serves as a member of the governing body’s Finance and the Health, Education and Social Services committees. “As a Ramsey resident, I understand the key concerns of my neighbors: preserving municipal services and our quality of life while keeping taxes stable. I work closely with the Ramsey Seniors, and am keenly aware of our obligation to treat taxpayer dollars with the utmost respect,” Jachzel said. “Other projects in which I have taken a key leadership role include The Ramsey Journal, A Taste of Ramsey, and (continued on page 12)
