Mercedes Benz USA recently donated a 2010 Mercedes GLK 350 to the Ramsey High School Auto Technology Program. The donation was coordinated by Michael Spano, a 2004 Ramsey High School graduate who was a student in the auto technology program. Following his college graduation, he became a member of the Consigned Vehicle Operations Division of Mercedes Benz USA. Matt Eodice, the auto technology instructor, explained that in light of the 21st Century Skills Problem Solving and Critical Thinking initiative at Ramsey High School, this vehicle will provide great learning opportunities for his students. Eodice envisions the vehicle being used for instruction in the areas of design, materials development and process, robotic assembly

methods, ergonomics and safety restraint technology, vehicle systems and sensor technology, fuel/alternate fuel engineering and efficiency, electronics troubleshooting, and analysis of state-of-the-art systems such as navigation, and entertainment. Eodice and Assistant SuperintendentBusiness Robert Marcotulli, noted the tremendous addition that this generous donation is to the program and thanked Spano and Brian Glynn of Mercedes Benz USA on behalf of the Ramsey Board of Education and the RHS students. A group of nearly 30 women at the First Presbyterian Church are involved in the ‘Threads of Comfort Ministry.’ Knitted shawls are created with beginning prayers. Once they are completed, the shawls are sent with a card, personalized for the recipient, with written prayers. The shawls pictured above were dedicated during a recent worship service and will be presented to homebound church members and to those undergoing surgery or recovery, and to the terminally ill.
