Ramsey Responds lists 2010 fall and holiday events
Ramsey Responds, a group that provides confidential assistance to community members who find themselves in difficult situations, recently announced its agenda of events. Ramsey Responds is sponsoring a Winter Collection, which will take place Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 48 Mechanic Street, Ramsey. The group will accept gently winter outerwear (coats, jackets, hats, gloves, boots, etc.) bedspreads, linens, blankets, and comforters. Donations will be accepted between 8 and 10 a.m. Items will be available to recipients beginning at 10 the same morning. Ramsey Responds will be working with the neighborhood schools to collect Thanksgiving meal items to donate to residents in need. Items to be collected include turkeys, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potato mix, and canned vegetables. Anyone who is interested in helping with a donation or with the assembly of the food baskets is invited to call (201) 312-4843. The community is also invited to help those in need to provide gifts for their families during the upcoming holiday season. Donations to Ramsey Responds are tax deductible, and all contributions are used to further the group’s efforts in providing community assistance. Many employers offer a company match to their employees’ charitable contributions. Ramsey Responds also welcomes assistance from student groups interested in performing community service. Besides the above-mentioned initiatives, Ramsey Responds has provided residents and recipients with food, clothing, household items, and financial assistance to help pay medical, rent, and utility bills. Ramsey Responds has also provided aid to students for the high school Senior Gala and school trips to Washington, DC. Interested residents are invited and encouraged to join the organization and to find out more about Ramsey Responds and its upcoming initiatives to help residents in need. For further information, visit www.ramseyresponds. com or phone (201) 312-4843. Ramsey Responds also encourages residents who need assistance to call. All calls are confidential.
Election includes contest for unexpired term
(continued from page 3) the Ramsey Farmers Market. “I am asking for the voters’ support on Nov. 2 and pledge to continue dedicating my energy towards making Ramsey an even better place to live.” Originally from Piermont, New York, Weber and his wife Donna moved to Ramsey in 1996. He has been active in school activities and with the Knights of Columbus. He is a coach for the Ramsey Baseball and Softball Association and serves as president of his daughter’s league. Weber is a graduate of Manhattan College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. He subsequently earned a master’s in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and is pursuing a master’s degree in project management. For the last 15 years, he has been managing director of trading services for the New York Stock Exchange. In that capacity, Weber manages the logistics of the stock exchange’s trading floor. Weber is the father of two: Angela and Harry. “I ask for your support on Election Day allowing me the opportunity to serve on the town council with a team that cares about this community as much as I do,” Weber said. Behrmann, 36, is a life-long Ramsey resident and a graduate of Ramsey High School. He and his wife Laura are raising their son Conner, age two, and reside on Island Park Avenue. For the past 20 years, he has served Ramsey as a volunteer member of the Ramsey Ambulance Corps and the Ramsey Rescue Squad. During that time, Behrmann has answered thousands of emergency calls placed by residents in need. He is a two-time recipient of the Knights of Columbus Shield Award, recognized for his volunteer service to Ramsey. As a past chief of the Rescue Squad and the Ambulance Corps, Behrmann has worked closely with Ramsey’s elected officials and the professional staff in borough hall, constructing budgets and managing finances. In his professional career, he works with Fortune 500 companies and federal, state, and local agencies to design and implement public safety communication systems and 911 centers. Behrmann said he is committed to preserving Ramsey’s small town appeal by balancing the need to maintain a strong ratable base with the charm and character that makes Ramsey a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Behrmann believes reducing congestion and improving pedestrian safety on Main Street and around schools should be the number one priority for Ramsey. Tyburczy was named to the council in August. He is a certified project management and information technology professional. He owns and operates SuperCoups of Hudson County North, a cooperative direct mail advertising concern. Before going into business for himself, he worked as a consultant. He was previously an accountant and auditor for KPMG, and worked in IT for almost 10 years in various administration and management roles. Tyburczy received a master’s degree in information systems from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and marketing with a minor in economics from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, where he was an honors graduate. He also received his diploma with honors in computer technical support from The Chubb Institute in Parsippany. An active member of his community, Tyburczy is involved with the Knights of Columbus, Rev. Patrick Pindar Council #3962, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Rev. Solanus Casey Division #32. He is district director for Americans for Fair Taxation, and secretary treasurer of Business Network International, which he served as vice president from 2009-10. The councilman and his family moved to Ramsey in November 2006. He and his wife, Eileen, have been married for nine years. Their two children, Kenny, 5, and Helene, 6, attend Hubbard School, where Tyburczy is serving as treasurer of the PTO for the upcoming school year. After his appointment to the council, Tyburczy immediately began meeting with borough officials to familiarize himself with local operations. “Property taxes are an important issue and we will continue to strive and achieve budget savings to stabilize municipal taxes by utilizing shared services, shared purchasing and cost reductions, without giving up our identity,” Tyburczy said.
