Robert “Bob” William Meyer of Nantucket, Massachusetts died Oct. 2. He was 72. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a 1957 graduate of Ridgewood High School and a 1962 graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He worked for Hess Oil and Chemical Co. as a regional sales manager, then went on to start several small oil and chemical wholesale companies over the next two decades. Before retiring, he was co-owner and vice president of Metro Oil and Chemical Corp. He had been a member of the Ridgewood Country Club in Ridgewood, and of the Sankaty Golf Club and the Nantucket Yacht Club, both in Nantucket, Massachusetts. He is survived by his children Heather Jones of Macungie, Pennsylvania, Robin Terres of Hingham, Massachusetts, and Tuck of Nantucket, five grandchildren, and his sister Virginia Marshall of Cohasset, Minnesota, Harold of Washington Depot, Connecticut, and Barbara Vanderbilt of Nantucket, the mother of his children.
