‘Halloween Horrors’ networking set The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals’ Network will host an evening networking on Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Woodcliff Lake, 200 Tice Boulevard, Woodcliff Lake. Learn the do’s and don’ts of proper networking while celebrating Halloween. The evening’s business card exchange will feature skits on how to network, including “Halloween Horror” illustrations. Halloween costumes are optional. Attendees may refer to www.mahwah.com for costume rules. The cost is $20 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members. porate Drive. 3D Ritmo de Vida performs concert In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Mahwah Public Library will host 3D Ritmo de Vida, a dance band, on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Led by drummer Michael Tate, the band offers a Latin tropical mix of funky salsa and Caribbean soul with a New York attitude. The musicians have performed with Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Jennifer Lopez, the West Indian Day Carnival, the New Jersey Mass Choir, Herman Olivera, Cab Calloway, Ray Vega, Harry Belafonte, Oscar Hernandez, Chaka Khan, Michael Urbaniack, Phil Keaggy, and many other popular artists. In addition, the members of 3D have recorded for Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Sony Records. This concert is free. No tickets are necessary. Seats are available on a “first come, first served” basis. The Mahwah Public Library is located at 100 Ridge Road. Call (201) 529-READ. Elks announce Pasta Night On Oct. 8, the Mahwah Elks will host
an all-you-can-eat Pasta Night. Entertainment will be provided by a Frank Sinatra impersonator. This event will be held at the Mahwah Elks Lodge, 1 Fox Lane, Mahwah from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided from 6 to 8 p.m. The buffet will include pasta with meatballs and sausage, salad, a choice of beverages, bread, and dessert with coffee and tea. The cost of this dinner is $8 for seniors, $9 for adults, and $5 for children ages six through 12. Children age five and under will be admitted free of charge. Songs of Italy to be presented Heidi Hepler and Michele Ramo will bring “Italian Tapestry: Songs of Italy” to the Mahwah Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. This husband and wife duo blends classical and jazz crossover styles that make Italian classics come to life. Ramo, born and raised in Italy, met his wife while she was living in Rome. Together, they will perform a variety of classic tunes. “Italian Tapestry” is free of charge. No tickets are necessary. Seats are on a “first come” basis. The doors will be closed as soon as the concert begins. Latecomers will

Church offers support for bereaved As Thanksgiving approaches, those who are grieving the loss of a loved one may face the holiday with intense and confusing emotions. All those who are grieving a loss are invited to participate in a sevenweek Bereavement Support Group starting Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m., at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 900 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah. Participants are asked to attend as many meetings as possible during the seven-week period. Register by calling (201) 327-1276. Board seeks volunteers The Mahwah Board of Health is organizing a local team of residents and medical personnel who live or work in Mahwah and are available to volunteer in the event of a public health emergency. Both medical professionals and non-medical volunteers are needed, including nurses, nurse practitioners, doctors, physician’s assistants, pharmacists, veterinarians, dentists, data entry personnel, interpreters, telephone staffers, interviewers, runners, clerical support staff, and crowd control personnel.
