David P. Hinnes of Midland Park died Nov. 13. He was 79. He was a U.S. Korean Army veteran. Before retiring, he was a sales manager for Equifax Services for 34 years. He was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park, and a member of the VFW Post in Midland Park. He is survived by his wife Betty (nee Dykstra) Hinnes of Midland Park, his children Cynthia A. Ver Hage of Midland Park, James Hinnes of Wantage, and Karen Vasile of Waterford, Virginia, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister Elizabeth Langendoen of Franklin Lakes. He was predeceased by his sister Lois Remley. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. She was the director of nursing at Eastwick College in Ramsey. She was a member of the Allendale Board of Education, and served on many community programs and committees. She is survived by her children Laura Huisking of Hawthorne, William Huisking of Allendale, and Sara Huisking of Allendale, her parents James and Gladys of Dauphin, Pennsylvania, her sister Phyllis of Long Island, and her brothers James of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Frank of Greenville, North Carolina, and William of Houston, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth “Betty” Capps McVey of Ho-Ho-Kus died Nov. 18. She was 85. She was a parishioner of Saint Gabriel’s Church in Saddle River where she served on the parish council and volunteered in many church activities. She served as president of the Junior Woman’s Club (now the Contemporary Club), and on Project Pride, a town-wide

beautification effort. She is survived by her husband Kevin, her children Kitt Cela of East Hampstead, New Hampshire and Christopher of Ho-Ho-Kus, and her two grandchildren. Mercurio of Boston, Massachusetts, Lynda Buccola of Hawthorne, Melissa Dvoretsky of Wyckoff, and Judy Erdman of Wyckoff, eight grandchildren, and her brother John Pislor of Glen Rock. She was a nurse’s aide at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff before retiring in 1990. She was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, formerly of Irving Park Christian Reformed Church. She was a member of the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat Auxiliary. She is survived by her son Stuart Miller of Lafayette, daughter-in-law Rosemarie Miller of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sisters Theresa Bushman of Wyckoff and Jean Zuidema of Haskell. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Martin Rappaport of Saddle River died Nov. 15. He was 75. He owned and operated Rappaport Real Estate, later he became co-owner of Driscoll Foods in Clifton. He was a member of the board of directors of Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, New York, for many years. A building at Blythedale is being named in his memory. He was the cofounder of the Max & Lillian Rappaport Foundation for the Treatment and Study of Social Trauma, Inc. He acquired and developed a therapeutic farm for children and adults in Millbrook, New York. He is survived by his wife Dr. Sondra Rappaport (nee Blank), and his children Amy Rappaport of Belchertown, Massachusetts and Michael Rappaport of Fort Myers, Florida. Sinton Jr. of Mahwah and Peru, Vermont, formerly of Upper Saddle River, died Nov. 11. He was 78. He began his career with Arthur Young in New York in 1955 and retired in 1992 as a partner from its successor company, Ernst & Young, LLP. He then joined Bankers Trust as a managing director and board member of related funds management businesses until his retirement in 2005. He attended Fordham Prep, Columbia University, and the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He was a member of the Hackensack Golf Club and The New York Athletic Club. He is survived by his wife Susan (nee Creter), his children Jill Polansky of Oakland and Sally Sinton of Melbourne, Australia, four grandchildren, his brother Donald Sinton, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Thomas E. Sinton III, and his sister Audrey Daly. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Before retiring, he was a commercial artist for the Conti Advertising Co. of Ridgewood. He is survived by his siblings Michael Eugene Sokoly of Midland Park, Ernest Sokoly of Waldwick, Robert Sokoly of Wyckoff, and Elizabeth Harinec of Herndon, Virginia, his companion Patricia Wagoner of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
