Retired metallurgist exhibits ‘potpourri of photos’ York City. A dramatic night-time shot of the Ho-Ho-Kus train station is the only photograph in the exhibit that was taken locally. Kane describes the exhibit as “a potpourri of photographs that I particularly like.” A retired metallurgist and materials engineer, Kane has loved photography for a long time, both as a hobby and as an essential aspect of his career research. “Digital techniques have made the formerly tedious aspects of photography much more fun, although a lot of restraint is necessary to avoid excesses,” he noted. “These images are basically straight photographs, enhanced only to the degree that would have been acceptable (and common) in traditional darkroom practice.” The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 to 9, and Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5.
