Schoen also advised the parents about some of the steps the district has already taken, or plans to implement this year, to address the problem that placed the district in improvement status. In addition, Schoen pointed out that the district’s administrators and supervisors will be reaching out to other school districts who are meeting their yearly progress to learn what they may be doing differently than Ramapo Indian Hills. “We are dedicated to providing all students with the educational foundation necessary to succeed in school and in life,” Schoen stated in her letter. “To ensure your child’s success, we have set high standards that are reflected in what is taught in our classrooms.” She explained that the No Child Left Behind Act reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act requires that adequate yearly progress in language arts literacy and mathematics be measured annually for each school in New Jersey.
