Scouts host Christmas Tree Sale Boy Scout Troop 34 of Franklin Lakes will hold a Christmas Tree Sale on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church at 454 Pulis Avenue. The sale will be held Nov. 27 through Dec. 19. The Scouts will be selling nursery-grown Christmas trees, wreaths, and roping for the holiday season, and will be on hand to assist in the selection and loading of trees. Learn what’s in American closets In a new, fast-paced, one-hour slide and lecture program, “Odds and Ends from the American Closet,” Dr. James P. Kane will offer a fascinating, historical, and whimsically unique picture of varied parts of the American story. Come to the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Sit back and enjoy this offbeat program full of varied pictures and stories of Americana. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. For more information, call (201) 891-2224. Leegant discusses new novel Barnert Temple will present a Nov. 21 book talk and signing by Author Joan Leegant. The author will focus on “Wherever You Go,” which concerns three Americans living in Israel who are caught in a vortex of religious and political extremism. The book asks the reader to consider how far he or she is willing to go in the name of a cause. The program will begin at 7 p.m. at Barnert Temple, 747 Route 208 South in Franklin Lakes. Magician presents Thanksgiving program Magician Steve Woyce, along with Tom the Turkey and Henry the Magic Rabbit will offer a Thanksgiving program packed with magic and comedy at the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 4:15 p.m. This Family Special, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, is open to Franklin Lakes residents and current members of the Friends organization. Auxiliary hosts Holiday Brunch and Boutique The Franklin Lakes Branch of The Valley Hospital Auxiliary will hold its Holiday Brunch and Boutique Shopping Extravaganza on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the Indian Trail Club, 830 Franklin Lake Road. Boutique shopping will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with brunch served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Over 30 vendors will be selling handmade and costume jewelry, unique children’s items, scarves, shawls, sweaters, decorative home goods, belts, handbags, tennis clothing and accessories, and more. Adult Writers Group seeks new members The Adult Writers Group of Franklin Lakes Public Library is open to those who wish to share their writing with others who write, and network for publishing ideas and writing methods. Learn about the auction website, eBay on Nov. 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. Learn how to create an account, how to bid and sell, and search tips to find the items you want. Participants must be able to navigate online and must have intermediate computer skills to make full use of this class. “Fun Computer Sites on the Internet” will be held Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to noon. Learn hands-on about sites that provide free alternatives to pay software, sites to protect and maintain computers, sites to promote life-long learning, and even a few sites to simply put a smile on your face.

Seniors plan events The Franklin Lakes Seniors will take a day trip to the Empire City Cabaret in Yonkers, New York on Nov. 18. The trip will feature a five-course luncheon, complimentary wine, music, and a live holiday floorshow. Attendees will receive $20 for the casino. The cost of the trip is $44 for members; $49 for non-members. On Dec. 9, the seniors will travel to the Westchester Broadway Theater in Elmsford, New York to see “A Sleepy Hollow Christmas Carol,” a new musical based upon the characters by Charles Dickens and Washington Irving and adapted by Jean-Paul Richards. The cost of the trip is $57
