Rachel’s Challenge inspires students to form club
After attending the Rachel’s Challenge assembly, students at Ramapo High School have decided to establish a new club based on Rachel Joy Scott’s five challenges. Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School. Her father, Darrell, has been speaking around the country, using his daughter’s diaries to illustrate the need for a kinder, more compassionate nation. Rachel’s challenges are: eliminate prejudice and look for the best in each other; dare to dream -- write down your goals and keep a journal; choose positive influences; use kind words and engage in little acts of kindness; and start a chain reaction. Students are invited to take part in the new club, which will meet the second Wednesday of each month. Officers will be elected on Dec. 8. Contact Ms. Sisto at Ramapo High for more information.
