November 10, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 15 Mahwah Minutes Kirkpatrick to perform concert Pianist Gary Kirkpatrick will perform works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Schumann on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Mahwah Public Library. Kirkpatrick, an internationally acclaimed pianist, is recognized throughout the world as one of America’s foremost soloists, chamber musicians, and teachers. This concert is free and open to all. The doors will be closed when the program begins. Latecomers will be admitted at the first convenient break. The Mahwah Public Library is located at 100 Ridge Road. Local artist exhibits at library Landscape artist Stephanie Cook is exhibiting her pastels and oils at the Mahwah Public Library. The Mahwah resident received a BFA from Boston University and has studied with notable artists Rosalie Nadeau, Richard McKinley, Robert Carsten, David Curtis, Karen Baker, and Joe Hing Lowe. Cook is inspired by the masters of Impressionism and the American landscape realists of the Hudson River School. Cook’s work has been exhibited at the Annual Member Juried Show of the Pastel Society of New Jersey, the Ridgewood Art Institute 30th Regional Open Juried Show, and the Wayne Public Library. She is a member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey, the Vermont Pastel Society, the New Jersey Society of En Plein Air Painters, Passionate about Pastels, Landscape Painters across America and across the Seas, and Seascapes, Dunes, Marine and Coastal Painters. Elks host Pasta Night The Mahwah Elks, located at 1 Foxwood Lane, Mahwah, will host an all-you-can-eat Pasta Night on Friday Nov. 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children ages six through 12. Children age five and under will be admitted free. The buffet dinner will include homemade pasta with meatballs and sausage, salad, bread, coffee and dessert, soda, wine, and beer. Seniors plan holiday outing The Mahwah Senior Activity Center has planned a Dec. 9 holiday event at Antun’s of Westchester. Located in the heart of Westchester County, Antun’s Victorian mansion and private gardens will provide the perfect backdrop for this event, which includes a show, three-course meal, and transportation. Entertainment will be provided by Pop’ra, starring Vincent Talarico. The singing star will feature the music of La Mancha, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, and more. Tickets are $61. The public is invited to donate gently used toys for the annual Toy Sale at the Paterson Boys Club, which will be held Dec. 3 and 4. Proceeds benefit the Paterson Boys Club and local food bank. Elks host Sock Hop Fundraiser The Mahwah Elks will host a ‘Sock Hop’ on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. The $25 per person admission will include a buffet dinner with beer and wine. “Beauty and the Grease” will provide live music from the ‘50s and ‘60s. Attendees are asked to come dressed for the era; a prize for best outfit will be awarded. All proceeds will go to benefit the Elks “Army of Hope” charity, which aids wounded soldiers and their families.
